Comment:

Spent 20 minutes in his class and dropped it while I was in there. Made constant remarks on students physical appearances (rude remarks) and castigated a student for wanting to participate and trying to participate in a discussion-based class?? Don't understand any positive reviews of this professor.

If you are easily offended you might not like Baker. Took his Worldy Islam seminar and was very impressed by him. Given the recent focus on Islam in America it was interesting and offered a unique perspective. He is fair but definitely likes to point out social norms he is sees in his students during discussion which leads some to feel uncomfortabl

Professor Baker is the best professor I've had at Trinity. His class was amazing and nothing is barred from discussion. An in class exam, and two take-home essays were all there was for assignments. Class was centered around discussion, in which we would be asked questions based on the reading. Best class I've taken at Trinity by far.

Baker is by far the most unique professor I've encountered at Trin - and I mean that in the best way possible. However, he's unabashedly sarcastic and brutally honest, which you might either love or hate. Very critical of America's place in the international system, but it is a refreshing departure from teachers who only stick to usual perspectives

Raymond is one of the best professors I have had the pleasure to work with. He created a wonderful environment in the seminar that encouraged open and honest dialog. Professor Baker is one of the smartest human beings I have ever met and a fantastic professor. An in-class essay, two 5 page papers and class participation is your grade. You need to read a ton but the majority of the books were very interesting.

Raymond one the best professors that Trinity has to offer. He is willing to step outside of the box unlike most teachers and will bar nothing from discussion. No attendance or homework policy, but both are recommended in order to get a good grade. Overall, a great teacher.

Baker is the man. very knowledgeable and brings contemporary issues into class. lots of discussion. if you do the reading closely and listen in class then you're all set. you learn a lot in his class. one of the few professors who really try to challenge you on campus

Raymond is the best teacher at Trinity College. He's a really nice guy and this class is just awesome. You probably won't get an A unless you work really really hard, but it doesn't matter because class is interesting. Of all the classes I've taken, this is the only one I actually remember everything from. Great class, best professor ever!

Professor Baker has a unique command of his subject "Islam: Dialogue or Clash?" based on real world experience, government consulting and an obvious delight in teaching. In the 'straitened circumstances' that globalization has pressed on West and East, the Professor - a declared political leftist does not try to impose his philosophy on students.
