He's a nice man. The tests are just extremely hard and most the class finds it hard to score a decent grade on them. He uses an attendance system through your phone to show you were in class, and has questions you answer about lecture each class. I would take a class with him again, just not genetics....

Tests are very difficult to study for given the information in lecture. He pretty much just reads off of the slides with the exception of a few things. He is a very nice guy but the lectures are very dry and boring. Get ready to read the book...a lot.

As Dr. Rey Sia stated at the beginning of class, if you have to work in order to support yourself you won't do well in the class. The labs were easy but uninteresting until we started working with culture plates. Dr. Sia will help if you ask for it. My issue was that I couldn't find enough time to study and get decent grades.

He's a very relaxed and fun person, which made the lecture a little less boring. However, there's tons of material to learn and retain and generally the class does not do well. Labs are unclear and uninteresting, but if you have an actual interest in genetics then you'll probably like the class.

Dr. Sia is generally a really nice guy, and is very flexible when it comes to being the chair of biology, but I hated this class. There were over 100 slides to each lecture, and we were expected to know 4-5 lectures per exam. I thought that the work was tedious and the lab was boring. Mastering was endless Overall, I did not enjoy this class.

Nice guy,teaches well and covers a large amount of concepts but treats his tests like 400 level exams. Grins when he see's that half the class cannot finish the exam in time, and its the norm for half the class to also fail. Doing well in lab will boost your grade.

As is the norm for Brockport bio professors, he treats a 300 level course as if it's a graduate level course. The material was interesting, and he tried his best to be helpful, but you'll never be 100% prepared for his exams. There's some extra credit that's not worth too much, but still: jump on it!

all you guys that give this prof an A+ are crazy. He's a nice enough guy but fumbles all over the place in his lecture. Impossible to follow unless you have a good idea of the content before the lecture starts.

I like him, he was funny but his test were hard. Read the book (on topics he lectures on) for lecture exams and pay attention in class and do the practice exams because these tips, are just like his exams.
