I had to take her for the thesis, and though I'd heard some horror stories, she was actually very good. Lecture for this class was not very useful, but Dr. Salamini was very helpful during office hours in helping me to find sources, and was also clear in what I had to change in order to get an A in her class.

Actually, I got an "A" in the class and thought she was not a good professor AT ALL. As a person she is nice, but not a teacher.

Great teacher. She really knows her subject & is always willing to help if you ask. For her tests she gives out 5 essay questions & chooses 3 to put on the test. The reading questions (which she goes over in class) & Powerpts are enough to answer them. The people who didn't like her were the ones who didn't show up or take notes & got C's.

The class was boring - she read off of powerpoint the whole time. Lecture was pointless, but you had to go. Half the books sucked and the others were just okay - expect to rely on your reading! Class discussions were sometimes useful and relevant, but other times also pointless. We had a paper and didn't know what to expect or do.

The content is interesting when we talk about history (lectures are presented in a monotoned voice & read straight from the overhead) but majority of classes are book discussions. There are no tests, just 4 papers, which are graded as if you are in an English class not on the historical content. Don't expect to get the grade you deserve.

An unfair teacher who on top of her own inability to teach tries to hamper brighter students by discouraging them from trying to improve the class.

Had her my second semester, and it was a disaster. But this course was excellent, and I actually grew to appreciate her as a teacher. Stay on her good side, show some interest, and you'll be fine. Although...she thought that the key factor in the Bush 2004 win was Nascar...hmm.

Finally I was able to see the good side of HFS. She was pretty laid-back in this course, quite nice to students, and available for student help sessions. Great experience. One hint: stay on her good side and you'll be fine!

Wow. This class is so interesting! The books we read are very good, and we get into very good discussions about them. She is very easy to talk to, and cares a lot about the class. If you go and visit her in her office hours, you'll realize that she is a very enthusiatic & wonderful teacher!

The class is pretty easy, expect a lot of reading and discussion. If you talk, and actually write decent you will do fine. Studying for her exams can be a pain, she has a tough time connecting to students on a one on one level... overall it wasent horrible

Keep your gun loaded so you can shoot yourself for even thinking about taking her class. She doesn't let you know what you are going to be tested on. You are expected to recall every detail. Her tests are all essay and the topics could be anything from the book. I had a 3.75 before her class.

She can be helpful if you go in on your own time and ask for it, but in class she was often unclear about what exactly was required.

This prof is terrible!! I managed to pull a B, but had to work REALLY hard. Way too much work for a 100 level class. Worst professor I have ever had at Bradley. Get out while you can!!

Easy class, consisted of a lecture once a week and a round table discussion once a week. Interesting opinions in that class; I was one of 5 males in the class, held a differing opinion (in many regards) than the teacher, and still pulled an easy A and had fun while doing it.

Easy tests. Gives you 5 possible essays a week before the exam. Exam has 3 and you answer 2. Use your notes and pick out some points from book and you'll be fine. 2 map quizzes are easy a's. A's DO exist in this class.

Even when she yells for giving your notes to her in an exam, its what she wants. Hell, she gave us a 10 minute lecture on giving our own opinions, but those that did got no higher than a C, and those that gave her opinion back to her got a B. A's don't exist in this class, it seems.

Take a different non-western civ -- trust me, it'll be easier. You have to regurgitate your notes to even have a chance of getting an A on the essay tests, and then she'll yell at you for just relying on your notes and in class discussions!

Only class that kept me from a 4.0. not tough to get a B. Just write what she wants to hear and you've got a B. An A on the other hand, good luck. You're going to have to stay awake to get one of those.
