Good prof, sad to see him retire. I enjoyed this course and feel it prepared me well for the real world.

GC101 is insanely easy. This man literally posts a study guide on educat with the questions that are actually gonna be on the exam. I found all the study guides on quiz lit or flash card machine and studied the crap out of them and finished each exam in less than 10mins. ITS THAT EASY. pretty cool dude, sometimes a lil over the top but resoectable

Professor Eathorne read right off of the slides for our lecture of the class. Not one of my favorite professors. Also the environment was hard to learn in.

He cares more about promoting radical environmental movements than teaching a class. When I asked him for help he told me good luck and to get out of his office. He also doesn't give any kind of feedback on work including giving back tests. The final is also accumulative so good luck. You're lucky if he lectures for 10 minutes so good luck.

Comment:
Eathorne lectures opinion as if it is fact, an impressionable student would likely draw conclusions that contain little evidentiary value. If you think critically (as he requires), you find yourself questioning his claims with a growing frustration throughout class periods, and ultimately, acquiring very little useable knowledge.

A very helpful professor who genuinely cares about your education if you care about it. He likes to bring a lot of his personal experiences into the classroom which makes him easy to relate to. He tends to mix material from different classes into the current topic which is good for understanding the broader picture but difficult for test prep.

Eathorne was pretty clear on what he wanted you to know. All the study guides have the exact answers that will be on the tests- so be sure to do them. If you study and pay attention then you will do well. Every test is on a Monday so that poses some challenge.

Probably the least interested and involved professor that I've had at Northern. He's a nice guy it just doesn't seem like he really cares a whole lot about actually teaching and making sure his students get something out of the class. His grading is also very inconsistent. Don't waste your time taking a class from him unless you absolutely have to.

Fairly easy course, manageable workload. Clear deadlines. However YOU CANNOT SEE YOUR QUIZZES AFTER TAKING THEM. You are advised to use your quizzes to study for exams so its kind of irritating that you can't tell what questions you got wrong. Some quiz questions outdated so there is no right answer. Sent a lot of emails to clarify this.

Class discussions were interesting, but they were often very one-sided and political. Tests were also like that; the final exam was almost all opinion-based questions. (I am a 4.0 student and I received an 86% on it.) It is an easy class with a small workload, but if you want a level-headed, scientific approach to environmentalism, look elsewhere.

Very arrogant teacher who gives misleading information. Regardless of what he says he does not like critical thinking or questioning. Just believe in what he wants and don't disagree to get a easy A

Mr. Eathorne is a very good teacher. He is very clear with due dates and tests and states them multiple times with plenty of warning and also includes them in the syllabus. He does a pretty good job of making boring material interesting. I would suggest him for this class.

Eathorne is a wonderful professor. I really enjoyed his stories he told the class within the first 15minutes of each meeting. He even wanted to hear what we had to say and was willing to have conversations! Movies were interesting. I will always remember from this class to "save the planet, kill yourself". I highly recommend Eathorne for any class!

I absolutely loved this prof. He is a nice guy once you get to know him. His study guides are hard, but questions for the test are taken right from them. After a test, go into his office hrs and see which ones you got wrong. Sometimes he'll give you some extra points if you think you were right. Lots of movies in class.

I took this class and had to drop it because it was so much work. Science isn't my forte, so I pulled Ds and Es on the tests. :( If you're hardcore interested in environmental science, he's extremely knowledgeable and plays devil's advocate well. Overall, I would give him a high rating.

He's not a hard teacher. But the first day of class he tries to come off as the cool guy then suddenly you'll get emails from him ranting about other students. study guides are HARD-probably bc you can google them & they're not actually taken from the text. This class is not as lax as he makes it seem. GO TO CLASS despite what he says!

for being anal about proper sentence structure and grammar, he needs to learn the difference between "principle" and "principal"
