Professor Bailey is probably the kindest professor you will ever meet, he genuinely cares about his students. The readings are sometimes long, but very interesting. In seminar, he keeps the class engaged with fruitful topics. Prof Bailey is by far one of the best profs you will ever have, he is super intelligent and cares.

Strange, strange man. That said, his classes cover a wide variety of issues with appropriate depth. While the class discussions are pretty weird and at times questionable, you'll still learn a lot. But take what he says with a grain of salt.

Overall a good history prof. The readings are heavy and the tutorial discussions rarely cover all of them (he was in charge of my tutorial as well). He's a hard marker but gives excellent feedback and is one of the most caring profs you'll encounter in first year. Participation and attendance are marked in his tutorials. Go to his office hours.

Bailey was my favourite first year professor. He was able to gather my intrigue for 121. Be aware, this class focuses more on elite philosophical excerpts than of an actual historic social framework. You will be expected to participate and read approximately an hour to two hours every week. You can extract a lot from this course if you are willing.

One of the kindest people I know. He is unique and it might feel like your brains are not running on exactly the same wavelengths... but he understands and appreciates that. Try your hardest. It might seem like he has his head in the clouds, but he is passionate and intelligent. A bit of an oddball, but so kind-- appreciate him for who he is.

Richard Bailey has been my favourite prof at Queens thus far. He is the sweetest man and truly cares about his students (he will prove this to you through the emails he sends). He always kept me so engaged in lecture, although the material was easy to get lost in. I definitely recommend taking his classes!

Prof Bailey really cares about his students. I was in his seminar for History 121 and I have to say he is deeply engaging and seemed to be learning along with us throughout the discussion which was refreshing. It is very possible to do exceptionally well in this class if you "keep a finger on the text" as he always says! I will miss him next year.

Great Proff, really cares about the students and the material he teaches. better in Seminar than lectures, lectures from this course are a little bit hard to follow BUT if you go to seminar you will be fine, lecture is less important.

Prof. Bailey is a very caring and passionate person. He tries to get to know as many students as possible and offers to help them with anything, including career or education advice. His seminars were amazing and his marking was very constructive. Although this course is tough, I am very glad I took it just because of the Prof.

Bailey is a great prof. He is extremely passionate about his subject which makes it more interesting. His lectures were really boring and fast at the start of the year but they get easier to understand as you go on. If Stayer is in his lecture you have to deal with them debating during the lecture and sometimes gets hard to follow.

Very nice proffessor who cares alot about students, works very hard, is totally committed and just an all-around good guy. His Seminars are the best ever, but his lectures are a little slow and the subject matter is pretty boring. But otherwise a great teacher. BE WARNED: IF TEACHING IN COMBINATION WITH PROF STAYER YOU GET THE WORST OF BOTH WORLDS.

Within the seminar enviornment, any student would be lucky to have Bailey as a prof! He's clearly passionate about what he teaches as well as his students. However, I find his lectures a bit dry. Beyond that, Bailey's desire to aid students in anyway is a quality to be admired.

While his lectures left something to be desired, he was really effective in the seminar environment. He initiated a lot of discussion with intriguing questions and always explained confusing material. He cares a lot about his students too. You have to respect a guy who has a heart attack and continues to lecture later that year.

The best prof I had at Queen's. This is what a university education should be, and I wish a similar experience for all other students of history. A great educator, cares for students on a personal level, and promotes an ethic of thinking critically. Put in the effort to get to know and learn from him, and it will be well worth your four years.
