I loved this class and the professor. He is really funny. You get to watch a movie write a paper. Then you watch tv shows, including black mirror, and have to write 16 journal entries(easier than it sounds). Then an in class essay(hardest thing). A final paper about your college experience. way easier and more fun than rws 100 and 200. I recommend

Loved this class! Boyd was a fantastic and hilarious teacher. The class consisted of 3 essays and multiple in-class short response questions. As long as you answered the question reasonably, then you get full credit. The essays are based on television shows that you watch in class, such as Twin Peaks. I highly recommend Boyd for your WPA class.

Not clear at all when it comes to feedback. His writing is sloppy too so you have to see him to understand what was wrong with you're paper. You can do all the assignments, show up to every class and still get a lower grade than someone who kisses his ass. The assignments aren't very clear either.

Professor is nice and funny and makes the very long lectures feel shorter as you are kept engaged. Essays are assigned on interesting topics. You get to watch 2 movies and write about them as well as other appropriate assignments. He created atmosphere that encouraged critical thinking and discussion. I highly recommend taking him!

One of my favorite classes and teachers. Class is made up of discussions on interesting topics, you don't necessarily have to be involved in. Make sure to do the readings for participation. He's a funny guy and the topics are interesting. class is 1 project 1 term paper and a final paper. Not as strict on writing as i thought he would be.

Best prof ever! The classes were interesting and enjoyable. I took it over summer fair amount of work but pretty easy. As long as it looks like you put effort into it you'll do fine. You do a bunch of prepping for the papers in class so they are a breeze to write at home. Need to go to class but you won't mind it. Definitely would take him again!

No textbook. 3 essays (1 written in class 20%)& attendance is mandatory because there's always a reading journal due that's done in class (10%). There's also 16 one page journals due that were 20% of the grade. Watched 3 movies and a few tv shows, then discussed them in class. The 1st and 4th essay were 25%. Easy, but hard grader.

Awesome professor! He's friendly, approachable, and engaging. Took this class over the summer and enjoyed it even though I don't like writing at all. We only had 4 papers and a bunch of in-class journals which weren't too hard so long as you read all the readings. No textbook needed! All essays are based on films watched in class.

Professor Boyd has got to be my favorite professor at SDSU! I absolutely hate writing, but he made the class enjoyable as well as writing bearable. He has a great sense of humor, and gets to know all of his students which is nice. All you need to do is pay attention and at least skim the reading assignments to do well in this class. Take Boyd!

Great teacher, very kind and laid back. The class consists of 4 essays and movies which are quite entertaining to watch. Keep in mind though, he isn't that easy of a grader, fair to be honest. If you do all the work, a B is manageable. Write quality essays for an A though.

Boyd is a great teacher! I enjoyed his class, I hate writing, but he made it enjoyable. I ook it over the summer, and even though I had to give up the 6 weeks? I'm glad I did. Take him, he's a funny guy, you will enjoy his sense of humor.

I liked Boyd. Graded fairly, listened to what his students had to say, and seems to truly enjoy being in the classroom. Be warned, he's a liberal and can be a bit exasperating for anyone who lives here on planet earth. But what's college without guys like this? Part of the whole academic experience I guess.

Awesome teacher! If I was an English major or the like I would take more of his courses. His class was very engaging and thought provoking, the class discussions were very much the same as I previously mentioned. Very personable, GREAT sense of humor (he loves to joke with you), helpful, and nice. One of my all time favorite professors.

Boyd rules. He is extremely nice, funny, understanding, knowledgeable, smart, and engaging. He cares if you care. Essays read were very interesting, but some are long winded. Theories really make you think. People who don't normally talk will be interested in speaking with him. Not too easy, not too hard. Pay attention and talk, you will be fine.

He tries to be funny and make class intresting. Have 4 papers which he gives the topic for. You have to use the reading and in class movie in paper. Have daily writting reactions to the reading which aren't to bad cuz he gives you the question before, sometimes changes it. He's not to bad to take.

Took the class because I had to and lucked out into getting him. He is very easy as long as you write by his format. You can get most of the ideas for your essays from class discussion, he will give you better grades if you participate in class discussions. All the papers are done on movies and it is not much work because most are fairly short..

Great for an RWS class! We wrote our papers based on class reading and movies like Memento, Eternal Sunshine, and a Patty Hearst documentary. Boyd is an good prof and kept the class interesting. If you show up to class and do the in-class writings, you can easily get a B or better. The papers are not too difficult, and the only other hw is reading.
