Professor Connor is by far the worst professor I have ever encountered. His slides don't make any sense and if you don't remember every specific fact he says, you'll fail. There's no textbook to go off of so even if you don't understand, you can't even teach yourself. He doesn't care about other students and is incredibly rude. DON'T TAKE HIM

Listen to the other reviews. I didn't and am now not on deans list thanks to this class. There are three tests and thats it. They're hard and even if you study his powerpoint, you will not do good (class average was never higher than a 55). If you ask for help, he is rude and degrading. Talks about his studies on dolphins and thats basically it.

He is one of the most ineffective professors I have ever met. At the beginning of this course he gave a very inspirational speech that gave me some glimmer of hope for this course. However, after listening to his lectures I realized he doesn't care about his students. There's no textbook, so if you don't understand what he's saying, too bad.

All you're graded on is the three tests he gives. He says the material is all in the power points, but it's Not. Wouldn't take again.

There are so many amazing professors at UMD that care that their students understand the material and are pushed an inspired to become scholars. Prof, Connor is not one of those people. He will not care about you, he will not care if you understand or are engaged with the material, he just wants you to study his lame slides and take the 3 tests.

I'm not a Bio major, but Marine Biology was a great class. He's very passionate about his field of work, and I learned quite a lot. He graded differently because there were only 3 tests, so anywhere from an 80 to a 100 was an A. You really do need to study though, otherwise you won't do well. Show up, pay attention, and you'll be fine.

By far the worse professor I have EVER had!! If you don't have to take him DON'T. More than half the class has a poor grade, he's really boring, reads off of the slides (we can do that too). The class is based on 3 hard tests and the final. How do you expect students to learn that way? I wish bio majors didn't have to take him, he's rude also!!!!!

If you don't have to don't take him. He is ignorant, lazy and does not care about student grades. He does not mark what you got wrong on the tests but expects you to go back and figure it out on your own to learn the material you dont know. in my opinion this gives less time to focus on what you actually don't know. Always thinks hes right and rude

He is absolutely terrible. I was excited for this class at the beginning, but now I can barely bring myself to go to a lecture. He's boring and disorganized. His tests are super hard and there are only three of them. Because of him I no longer want to be a bio major.

He thinks and knows everything and is impossible to please. He wants to never be able to ask why with your answers on tests. He took 30 points off for writing style on our essays. I tried finding him during his office hours and he wasn't there. He gave me the wrong test for the first exam and made me retake it.

Connor really knows his stuff when it comes to marine mammals. The class is super interesting and he explains things well. I had him for populations also and didn't like him, but he is a lot more engaging in this course. It is a lot of work but manageable especially for a 400 level course. Start learning the Latin names of all the mammals now!!

If you know how to study (or actually put effort into studying) then his class shouldn't be that difficult. Be prepared to do actual work, so don't complain when you don't put effort in. And by effort I mean more than just cramming the night before a test.

Seems like an okay guy but he is really full of himself. He made his tests harder because he didn't like that our average was a 60. His grading scale is okay though. Only has three tests and the final. Doesn't use the book at all.

He is the hardest professor I have ever had, but in the end I enjoyed this class. The class is really a student discussion class more than a lecture, so it is difficult to learn all the concepts from the book. Show up, participate, and you'll realize that hes pretty laid back. Get started on projects early or the end of the semester will be chaos.

You will learn a lot in this class, but it was more difficult than expected. He moves through slides too quickly and its hard to judge what to take notes on until after you know his exams are. The material is tough so studying is crucial, its not an easy class. Textbook is unnecessary, just take detailed notes or study from the online slides.

3 difficult exams. How do one expect to learn if the only means of grading are big exams? No group quizzes and no handouts to be graded. He is dull and doesn't care about students. Difficult class. Exams have numerous trick questions and most of the materials on the exam were never covered in the lecture.

Only gives 3 multiple choice tests. SO hard! As is if its a 300 level class! TONS of material to know WORD FOR WORD.. and all for a 40 multiple choice test. Hope you study the right stuff! Cause theres no study guide! He goes through slides some of which are very unclear! I love marine biology but this class kinda ruined it for me.

Worst teacher ever! Failed his class and I only missed 2 classes all semester. Runs through slide shows and thinks that everyone is a BIO major. Tests are impossible. If you get in the 60's on a test that is like getting an A. The textbook is useless for this class so don't buy bother buying. Don't take this class if you don't want kill your GPA!
