Brain and Behavior (Now called Intro to Neuroscience) with Dr. Deyo was the best class I took this semester! Dr. Deyo is caring and is not a hard grader; he really tries to make sure everyone does well and gets A's, or at least B's. He knows a lot about psychology and neuroscience, and shares a lot of information since he is so passionate about it!

He is a very smart guy and actually knows what he is talking about which is awesome, but he'll get mad for small things and kick you out of class (or even the whole entire class). He is also a pretty quiet talker so if you can't hear that well, maybe sit towards the front of the room.

Very knowledgeable and direct. Drop exam and E.C. available. Will not respond to emails-- talk to him after class or during office hours. Turn OFF your phone before walking in the door. He will kick you out if it makes a peep. Don't be that person-- you're paying to be there and so are others.

Go to class because attendance matters. Don't use your phone, you'll get kicked out. Can be hard, but just read the book and go to s2i.

There is a ton of extra credit and he lets you drop your lowest exam!! My friends psych profs seem easier test wise but it doesn't even matter because you get so much ec.

Smart guy but has a very short temper. His Intro to Psych class is more of an Anatomy of the Brain class. He gets angry easily and yelled at students multiple times in front of the class, and once cancelled class early after getting too angry to teach over something very minor. I learned a lot in this class, but do not recommend due to his temper.

Comment:
Dr. Deyo's teaching ability is good. He is very knowledgeable and can teach well. However, in my 4 years at WSU, I have never met a more heartless professor. Dr. Deyo seems to feed off of making others feel inferior. I never been more insulted and humiliated by the way Dr. Deyo has treated me, and have filed a formal complaint against him. AVOID!

LOVE THIS CLASS! Lectures are always very interesting and keep you awake! The extra credit points can change your grade a lot. Instead of getting a B on my first exam, one extra credit thing I did boosted me up to an A! The first test is the hardest so do not let that discourage you! He even lets you drop your lowest exam grade! GO TO S2I!

Strict but fair. Very reputable; he knows a lot of people and has done extensive research in pharmacology, psychology, and neuroscience. He's even written his own textbook. Do not piss him off; you do not want to get on his bad side (Keep your phone OFF always and in your backpack), ESPECIALLY if you have plans for graduate school. Brilliant guy.

Professor Deyo has done years of research for psychology and has a passion for it. His lectures are packed full of interesting information. Go to every class and do the extra credit once he allows it. It helped me go from a B to an A. Make sure to read the chapters when he assigns then, they arent long and help you understand what he talks about.

Dr. Deyo is probably the smartest guy you will meet. He's not only super smart, but he can communicate his knowledge really well and make it easy for a small-minded child like me to understand what he is saying. You do need to put in a little bit of work to get a good grade, but overall it's manageable and Deyo will help you to be successful.

Professor Deyo is one of my favorite professors at Winona State. He really knows what he is teaching, and I have never learned more in one class. Attendance is necessary since he lectures. He incorporates videos along with following an online text book. Tests are hard, but this class is SO worth it. I will be taking more classes with him.

Dr. Deyo is an amazing professor for Intro to Psych ( I have not taken any of his other classes, but I would like to!). As long as you use the study resources (flash cards and multiple choice) given in the text book and show up to classes/ S2I it is not difficult to achieve a good grade!

Be respectful and kind to him and he will to you. He can be your best friend or your worst nightmare, depending on how much you put forward. He has very little assignments and gives a lot of extra credit, but you need to WORK to do well on the exams. Very lecture heavy but he's really passionate and heavily acclaimed about the field.

Deyo is absolutely wonderful. He is loaded with information, so be ready to write at 70mph. Even if you miss something you can always go back to him, ask and he will be more than willing to help. Don't skip class! Just don't do it. This is a great class if you like the science side of psychology, such as neuroanatomy and clinical lab trials.

Deyo made you work for your grade, but it was worth it. I learned more in that psych class than any previously taken. He is soft spoken to the point where I had to sit in the front. Make sure you attend class every day to not fall behind. Also, USE THE TEXTBOOK PRACTICE FLASHCARDS. The test is almost identical to the flashcards/quiz questions.

Dr. Deyo is by far one of the greatest psychology professors I have ha . I have had the privilege to be able to take almost every class he has taught. He expects a lot out of his students so work hard. He may seemed rushed and flustered at times but you have to remember he is a busy guy. I would recommend taking any of Professor. Deyo's classes.
