I didn't use the book. I took it online and just wrote down all the notes on the slide show and took the tests based on that. I got a B. 25 minutes to answer 25 questions. No cushion, your grade is based on quizzes and the final only. Drops your lowest quiz grade. final is worth 25% of grade. I'm taking him again.

I had Dr. Gilson for an online class. His notes are lengthy and it does take awhile to read them, but they're very informative. He only gives you 25 minutes to answer 25 questions, but you're not supposed to be looking stuff up as you take the quiz. I know this may annoy some people, but in college you must LEARN! I got an A, so it can be done.

this class is awful... im taking it online and i have to study for hours to recieve B's on his weekly quizzes... you have 25 questions in 25 minutes the quizzes are really hard and you dont have time to look up stuff in the book or notes

NOT an easy class, but well worth the struggle!!! it took me a few weeks to figure out how to handle this course but Dr. G was very helpful in his guidance on how to study and fully absorb the material!!! ALWAYS willing to answer any question you have by phone, email, discussion board!

He gives barely any time on quizzes, isn't the best at wording info so that students can understand it, sometimes cops an attitude in forums, grades will be adjusted constantly due to errors, and sometimes there are multiple right answers but will get marked wrong b/c of his opinion. His + is that he responds to all students in every discussion.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. I am telling you now. Save your GPA. Our class average is currently 80. If you get three wrong out of the 25 questions on the quizzes then you automatically can't get an A! I am a very good student who is writing this out of anger because I failed yet another quiz of his even though I studied ridiculously.

I have very mixed feelings about Dr. G. I really like how he answers every student comment on the discussion board. However, this is a very difficult class. The material is haard enough let alone have quizzes that don't really make sense and then are graded oddly (recieving more points after the fact). I wouldn't recommend taking this class online.

Dr G is a wonderful teacher. The online version of this course is hard but if you stay on top of your work you will get an A even if you don't ace the quizzes. Also, there is an option to take the final online as well; no mandatory meetings. He makes sure to reply to all questions. To the people that rated Dr G low: you just weren't trying! A+ Dr G

This class isn't easy by any means. The material is difficult and it's hard to learn it in an online class. If you stay on top of the material though you'll be OK. Small errors in the quizzes didn't really matter. Professor Gilson is a really good guy though. Always willing to help. Meet him in person if you can, he really is awesome.

He was horrible!! DO NOT TAKE ONLINE!!! Tons of mistakes on every quiz and they are 60% of your grade, must take final on Saturday NOT ONLINE! Incomprehensible quizzes and slides, grades completely wrong constantly a fight for an OK grade becasue of their mistakes!!

WARNING TO ALL GRADUATING SENIORS TAKING THIS CLASS.. do not take Dr. G's class online. I am sure he may be a good professor teaching face to face but this online class is completely absurd. The weekly quizzes which count for 60% of your grade are near impossible to comprehend and pass. The way he teaches this should be a graduate level course.

Dr. Gilson is probably my favorite teacher of all time. If not, he's clearly in the top 5. This guy is amazing. He's an absolute genius as well, and has developed a bit of a name for himself in the Neuroscience arena. Crazy high IQ; mine's about 160, and he's processing on a whole different level. Fascinating to be around.

I had this class online, and it was the worst. Difficult material, quizzes impossible. Weekly assignments graded unpredictably and very little feedback given. Professor was short and impatient with students on discussion board. Had to withdraw to save my GPA. If you have to take this class, wait until you can take it face-to-face!

I think he's one of the best prof. in the psych. dep. Very, very intelligent person. He had a Genuine interest to help us learn. Its considered tough material but I didnt know how much I had learn until I took his final. You walk out with a sense of worth. Loved his method of teaching. I wish he would teach more undergrad. classes.

I rate the easiness as a "3" because: one simply has to work to receive their grade(s). Additionally, no class is easy. Re-take a professor and you will learn that you were just "at the top of your game." One has to respect Dr. Gilson, because: (1) he has worked hard to learn all that we are being taught and (2) because he EARNS your respect...

I think Dr. Gilson has helped me when I was struggling: as a person, and as a student. I believe that he goes beyond what a "person receiving a paycheck" would go. I think I can be candid in saying, he has taught me to be okay with being myself; in-turn, enabling me to be a better student--not of just psychology, or even school; but, of life.

You will be hard-pressed to find a student who attended classes and did not like this professor. Gilson is very knowledgeable, helpful and approachable. Honestly, one of the best professors to have at UCF. I would definitely take another class with him.

I thought this class was easy; I never went once the quizzes were available online. The class was super slow and boring. Don't bother getting the book, ppts contain everything you need. I never studied for this class, except for the final when I realized how much material I neeeded to learn since its cumulative. Only studied one day, got an A!
