great teacher for a student with a load! assignments don't really need to be turned in on time, he doesn't dock you for turning them in late. no matter how crappy your papers are, he will never grade it lower than a b- and he has a savage english accent!

He was an awesome teacher! I was scared for this class because I am not very good at English and got a C in my 1010 class, but he was really helpful and the end paper is only 10 pages instead of 25 like most 2010 and 2020 classes. BEST ENGLISH TEACHER AT UVSC!

You are crazy if you take english from anyone else. Johnstone is so entertaining and fun in class, you will never be bored. You only write 3 papers all semester and he lets you write rough drafts to get it just right. Easiest and most fun english class you will find!

He's a great teacher who grades fair. Not as much work as other English 2010 classes. I really recommend taking a class from him. After getting a C- in English 1010 from another teacher, I was scared for 2010 but with him teaching I got an A.

He is the best English teacher I've ever had. English is not my best subject and I ended up with an A- in the class, the teacher gave great comments on all of the papers, and would help if anyone had questions. The class had great discussions which kept it interesting.

I took his history 1010 class and loved it so much I took his english 2010. Unfortunatly he and I did not see eye to eye, and I ended up failing because my final 10 page paper was not what he wanted. he is giving me the chance to re-write the paper even 2 years later, and he is being kind of a jerk. Cant really figure him out anymore.

Tough class but a great teacher and great instruction. He critiques every assignment and gives you the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. It seems like there's something due every day however if you want to learn good writing skills then he is your man. Be prepared to think critically!!
