So he did require a lot of reading (about 100 pages a week) for class, but honestly, I got an A by literally just paying attention to the lectures. I wasn't the most excited for this class, but he brought up some interesting questions and was very passionate.

Very knowledgeable and passionate about literature and the humanities. Helps you relate to "classic" literature more than you would otherwise by helping you determine where you stand on controversial issues and world politics.

Lectures with Dr. Kimball were fairly entertaining and insightful, however, the grading criteria was very vague. No study guides or grading rubrics for essays. I felt like I kind of had to guess how to get a good grade most of the time. Questions from Dr. Kimball can be very specific to lecture. If you don't take good notes, don't take this class!

I was terrified to take this class, but I loved it. Kimball was awesome, I loved his humor and his lectures are extremely straightforward. If you do your best, your guaranteed at least to pass. Fair and helpful teacher. I had a great experience. I'm glad I took it with Kimball.

Professor Kimball's lectures are very straightforward and easy to understand. If you've ever taken any sort of US History class before, this class is a breeze as long as you do the readings.

Professor Kimball was one of the least interesting professors I have ever had. His lectures were very boring and not clear AT ALL. It was very unclear what we had to learn for the tests, which were basically just memorizing random things he said in class one time. Do not take this class if you aren't willing to literally spend ALL of your time.

The material covered in lecture is not enough, it must be supplemented by good reading of the textbook.

The lectures were presented well and for the most part I enjoyed going to class. Everything depends on who your TA is. They grade the papers and administer the quizzes. My TA wasn't great but the class was manageable, not as bad as its reputation.

This class was kind of a joke. Class is just dry lecture and discussion. You could almost learn everything we talked about in class from Wikipedia. Some of the books were interesting, but overall there is a ton of unnecessary reading. I enjoy sports, but the structure of the class make it a chore.

Loved Dr. Kimball. His lectures were entertaining and it was easy to take notes. Study the lecture notes and key terms from the book for the tests. The essays sucked though and it was almost always impossible to make an argument within the word limit. Not hard to get an A though because the class is curved in the end (not sure by how much though).

It's a difficult class no matter who you take it from. Kimball's lectures are pretty entertaining. To do well you NEED to do all the readings. He also requires 10 hours of service.

Grading in this class is a little tough, they expect a lot out of their students. However Dr Kimbal really does care about how his students do. There are MANY resources available just make sure you use them. He tries to make them interesting so pay attention and show up and you should do fine. Not a simple course but a good one and he's great!

Kimball is an okay test. His lectures are kind of boring, especially because he tries so hard to be funny. He's not the most clear prof, but the class is okay. It really just depends on which TA you get - you need an easy one to get an A. I probably won't take from him again.

Kimball is very funny and interesting to listen to. The textbook is used extensively, and reading is mandatory for quizzes and tests. The review room is free and proved to be very helpful for me. I've heard that Pope's class had to do way more reading than we did...

Whoever gets Kimball when he teaches this class again is lucky! I had heard horror stories about this class, but Kimball made it as enjoyable and easy to understand as possible. Our class did MUCH better than the other class- he's a good teacher- but study and pay attention and you'll be fine! He generally cares about his students too.

Dr Kimball's lectures are pretty entertaining and good and all that, but sometimes it seems like he is trying too hard to be funny. His powerpoints are worded vaguely which bugged me. His tests are pretty subjective but I heard every American Heritage class is like that. We only had to do two essays and then 10 service hours. Two midterms and final

I dunno why American Heritage gets such a bad rep...Maybe it's just Kimball who made it bearable! His lectures are very clear, just not terribly exciting at times. Do the readings and pay attention and this class is a breeze.

First of all, that picture of Dr. Kimball is hilarious, doesn't really look like him. Second of all, he is a very fun lecturer. He has the voice of Kronk mixed with Jim Gaffigan. This class was really easy, just do the readings and study your notes and you will ace the tests. The TAs are also very helpful in the review room.

Phenomenal professor. The TAs grade everything, not him, but he prepares you very well for the essays, quizzes, and tests. His lectures are consistently engaging, though you won't necessarily care about the material after the course is over. Overall highly recommend him for American Heritage.
