You are not getting your money's worth if you don't take a class with this man. His class is the only class I actually enjoy going to. He's the funniest and most down to earth professor on this campus. Take any class with this guy and you won't regret it.

J-term Analyzing Japan, with Richard Leitch is one of the best courses I have taken at this school. Leitch is an actor and the classroom is his stage. I feel fortunate to experience interactions with those who are truly experts at what they do in life and this man is no slouch. His final is and will be the only test I have ever failed! Take it!

Leitch is one of my favorite profs at Gustavus. He made my first semester here a great experience! He does assign a lot of readings, but if you stay on top of them, his tests are relatively easy. Big bonus is that he doesn't require any textbooks. Take his class!!

Leitch is easily one of the better professors at Gustavus. Even though he is a very tough grader (and I mean TOUGH) his door is always open. Expect A LOT of reading. Get used to doing anonymous work. I think that's why he's so tough grading, because he doesn't know whose it is.

Leitch's classes are awesome, you don't even feel like you're in class learning but you actually are! It's crazy! He is very kind, funny, and entertaining. He also teaches you a lot through the readings he assigns. Grading-wise he's pretty laid back about most things, and is just a reasonable person in general. One of my favorite profs at GAC.

He is insane. I've heard rumors that he hid his pain pills in a stapler. I actually think he is crazy. He is off-putting, but he is nice on the inside... He rants, swears and acts like he has taken a lot of drugs. Clarity is his biggest issue as a teacher.

Hilarious teacher! I am currently taking comparative politics with him and he is so energetic and so funny! I would definitely take a class with him again! My class doesn't have a textbook, everything we needed was downloaded onto a flashdrive which is great!

Professor Lietch is absolutely fantastic. He takes a rather dry subject, and makes it incredibly entertaining. He has also instituted a no text-book policy, instead he loads up a student-provided flashdrive, and puts all of the relevant data onto it. This class is awesome, and Lietch is one of the best professors I have ever had. Take him.

All the reviews about hard tests and grading don't seem to apply to Leitch's FTS on Homelessness. I have never found him to be unclear or arrogant either. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his subject, and his personality is just a bundle of fun. That wacky guy is definitely my favorite teacher here!

I really wish I had taken more classes with Leitch! I took my first class with him on a recommendation during my final semester in college, and I was always so excited to go to class because he is so exciting! Really a fantastic prof, and I would go back and take every class of his, if I could.

Leitch is hilarious, but very tough. He's a great guy to talk to if you have any questions for him during office hours. He is by far the most helpful outside-the-classroom prof I've ever had. He's funny, but you often leave class wondering if you actually learned anything. Also NO STUDY GUIDES. You are completely on your own in preparing for tests.

Leitch is really funny in class, but be ready to be VERY frustrated with is grading of papers. No matter what the main comment you will get is "WORDING." His tests are extremely hard, and very specific. Anything he says twice in class, star it, it will be on the test. He has no problem with being very profane in classes as well, just a heads up.
