Comment:

This class wasn't easy, I ended up getting a C+, but professor Newman is a really good teacher and I believe I got the grade i deserved. He likes to get everyone involved in class discussion and makes class very interesting in my opinion. He lets you re-write your papers within a week and gives very detailed feedback on papers. I would recommend.

If you are a writer, take Newman, or if you are interested in writing, take Newman. Newman will grade your work harshly, and he will give good feedback to improve your work. He is very accessible out of class, during his office hours, and is a big help when it comes to improving your writing. If you want to write, Newman is your guy to go to.

Prof. Newman is a good choice for English. Very technical when it comes to writing anything, will nitpick every single sentence and dwell on it. Unfortunately involves politics at times which should be left out of the subject. Requires you to read 4 books and write papers on them which is not hard at all. Be punctual. Good guy with a passion.

Not very interested in the job, as evidence by his tardiness and multiple absences. The lack of interest leads to poor performance. Tries to appear relaxed and "hip", but scratch the surface and you get very narrow, self-righteous political beliefs and a strong sense of self-importance and arrogance. Not recommended.

he was ok. not the best, he did treat it like an honors english class when really people were just taking it because it was suppose to be easy. He expected us to know a lot about writing techniques and told us straight out that he grades really tough. i mean, if you are a good writer take him but if not, don't waste your time. interesting class

Very nice professor, he makes you work for your grade but he provides great feedback and shares his knowledge to help you pass the class. He is more than willing to help if you visit him in his office and he doesn't choose favorites. If you care about the class, he notices and may reward you in some way shape or form.

Very laid back but he cares about the assignments. He treated us all on not just a college level but a professional and scholarly one. Yes he did make it easier to know the rest of the students and yes his work is demanding but that's what you get for a 313 course! I loved the class and had a few good challenging assignments :)

I took Prof. Newman's creative writing class, and it was one of the most interesting classroom experiences I've ever had. The atmosphere he creates in the classroom helps you interact with the other students in a meaningful way. He is a tough grader, but always willing to help if you are struggling.

nice person. different from most NCC teachers i have had because he creates environment where kids talk to each other and become friends. other teachers dont do it or care. it helps because u become more interested in the class if u are talking and feeling comfortable

he is very laid back it gets annoying after a while. when giving assignments it is very unclear to what exactly he wants us to do. he was very late numerous times. he curses a lot. he once canceled class once because he forgot his lesson. if your not willing to do the work don't class.
