Comment:

Concepts were explained pretty clearly but he assigns SO MUCH homework. It helps you to improve on the concepts discussed in class but I found the amount of problems we had to do was excessive. Make sure you go to the review sessions that are provided before tests, it helps!

Comment:

Oliver is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He makes students feel stupid for not understanding the materials being taught in class. This professor teaches 3-4 lessons per day and assigns at least 30 homework problems per class period. oh and dont forget there is online homework on top of that. there is a ridiculous amount of hw for 082.

He was the WORST professor I've ever had. When asked to go over a question on the board he wouldn't even get the correct answer. When I tried asking him a question before class he kept walking away from me. I failed his class even with going to tutoring. If you have him as a teacher you NEED to drop. He is awful. He doesn't know how to teach.

Not my favorite professor. He gets sidetracked pretty easily with irrelevant stories and takes forever to explain the simplest thing. However, doesn't mind if you do homework in class, which is a big thing. If you get him, don't fret.

Nice teacher. He explains everything. If you need help feel free to ask he likes it when the class asks questions. The test are just like homework so make sure actually understand what your doing. Study and you'll pass.

I've only had Mr. Oliver for a few weeks now, and he knows what he's talking about but he's not really good at explaining everything. Personally, I think if I wasn't good at math I would probably be failing that class. He always seems to add more steps when doing equations and it just makes it much more confusing that what is should be.

I have never done so bad in math before until I got Oliver. In my class, he's kind of a jerk and he'll degrade us by saying we're not "smart" enough to know a certain concept. I've been going for help and I even have a tutor. Not a good professor at all.

Not a good professor, does not explain anything. Expects you to already know how to do everything even though you are in this class to Learn the material. It goes to show when you have 20 students and 15 fail the same exam & his solution is to tell students to drop the class instead of figuring out why class not doing well.

Math is not my best subject, but he did not help at all. When I asked him about a certain part of the lesson he told me that I should already know that from high school and wouldn't take the time to explain what was going on when I was lost. He's not the worst, but there are definitely better.

Teacher is very nice and intelligent. How ever it is difficult to learn from him. His way of thinking, supersedes most individuals' knowledge. Tests start off easy, but gain in difficulty as the class moves on. I taught everything to myself. I do not recommend.

Was a great teacher!! the class is just hard! he does his best to explain things during class. first 30 mins of every class is all questions from homework which is really helpful. homework is graded but that is a good thing because with out the homework you will fail! Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged !! necessary to do well!!!

I could put up with his "jokes" but he became rather annoying with his "jokes". I withdrew the class early because he wasn't very clear and if you have a hard time learning Algebra, he's not for you. He's very technical and he can't explain in lam mens terms. Don't take him unless you're good at Algebra.

He is very clear about what he is trying to explain. Will answer questions if you don't understand. Overall a very good teacher. Will learn a lot if you pay attention. Sometimes tries to hard to be funny. Good personality but sometimes just not that funny

at the start of the semester i could put up with his attempts to be funny, but after a while it got real old. he teaches straight out of the book and my mind wandered a lot. as long as you turn in the homework that he assigns and pay attention to the examples he does (that come straight from the book) you should do fine!

He is an alright professor. Teaches straight from book though, so you can just learn from the book. That is probably why people turn in homework and leave. This has nothing to do with the class but he snorts all the time like he's saying something funny and his bones crack all the time which gets annoying after awhile.
