Comment:

Richard was one of the best professors I've ever had! The class is "easy" considering there are no tests or assignments, but if you don't participate in the discussions, you're only cheating yourself. I've come out of this course knowing so much more about how I want to conduct myself in my classroom and what I want my students to truly learn

Comment:

He made our class super fun, and I couldn't imagine taking it with everyone else. During warm, beautiful days, he would have us go outside for at least 10 minutes and just walk around. If you have the option to have him as your professor, do it. Best professor I've ever had at Oakland.

I had Richard for 313; like previous people, I can't imagine taking it with anyone but him. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO SUCCEED IS SHOW UP, and glance at the books. If you think critically for about 2 minutes, you will pass with flying colors.

I couldn't imagine taking this class with anyone but Richard. He gets you thinking and exposes you to many new ideas. You could get by in this class by not giving 100%, but if you do you will regret it because you will only be cheating yourself. Come prepared for the discussiosn, participate in class, and you will do great. Best of all, no tests!

Phenomenal professor. Truly cares about his students and what they learn. Admittedly, you can squeeze by in his class without doing much, but you would regret doing so. Class is all about discussion and critical thinking, and I feel I left the class with a deeper understanding of the topics. I HIGHLY recommend Richard.

I loved Professor Pipan. Although there weren't any tests/quizzes/homework, I truly feel like I got a lot out of the class and our discussions. He is a really genuine person, which I think made the class very enjoyable and worth while. I would recommend his courses for any education major.

Professor Pipan was so nice and caring! Yes there weren't any tests or quizzes and homework, but the class discussion is the biggest part. I felt like i learned so much that I would have never thought about going into a elementary classroom. He really makes you think! Don't miss class and participate and you'll do just fine :]

I had Pipan for 310 & 315. Such an amazing professor. You learn more than you can even imagine..not about textbook stuff. About REAL teaching. He changes and questions your view of teaching while solidifying your philosophy about teaching. I recommend him to anyone! He makes you want to make the schools, even the world, a better place.

Richard is by far the coolest professor I have ever had! He is passionate and motivating. His class is all discussion based and he shows really interesting films! He is all about having food in class and even brings food sometimes. He makes his class a lot of fun! I learned tons and he helps you think for yourself! Buy the books as he assigns them.

Nice guy trying to get students to think outside the box. Has way of opening ur eyes & helping to see things from new perspectives. HOWEVER, works hard @ making u think & feel the way that he does (politically) even though u may not. Seems he takes offense @ anyone who doesn't agree. Funny thing. Aren't liberals supposedly 1's acceptive of all? hmm

Pipan is by far my fav. prof. at OU. You watch movies and discuss articles in class and if its warm out, you go outside. If you show up, participate, and show interest, he will give you the grade you chose! Awesome prof, recommend to anyone!!!

Easy class; however he's a raging liberal. If you don't believe in the same views as him and do not have a lot of self control I recommend a different instructor. He constantly pushed his political views on us with Al Gore's movie and many others. Very UNPROFESSIONAL!

Great teacher! He is very passionate about his class! He has a lot of great points to talk about. There was no work at all! At the end of the term he asked us to average all grades from other education classes and that was our grade! Great teacher with good points and not much work. What more could you want out of a class??

Great professor! Yes the books are boring until he ties them in with teaching, then I feel that it is a great use of them. Just 1 paper, discussions, and movies. You will only get out what you put in, so if you don't try to make connections on your own, it will be boring. He teaches in a different way but it makes you learn more. Great Professor!!
