Professor Poss is an intresting teacher, but when it comes down to tests it's another story. He doesn't provide study guides and tests you on irrevelvant things he said in class

Comment:

Better than most sponsored talks. Very very inspirational. Would recommend. I'll echo every other review here that delivers a high amount of approval. They are correct, he is one a kind. He delivers lectures in the most hilarious ways and test you based on the material he said in class. If you're interested in astornomy, this professor is the way.

Poss is awesome and always encourages exploration into any topic brought up in class. There is a lot of reading. There is always a 10-20 page paper due at the end of the semester but you basically get to choose what you want to research and write about. (he can also be flexible with a creative projects if writing isn't your thing)

He is an awesome teacher! Also took ASTR 325 and loved it! He is very clear on his lectures and tests are easy. There is rarely an homework except a term paper at the end of the semester and 3 tests. Have to go to class! You'll love him, he is so smart and knows so much.

Dr. Poss introduced science fiction in a way I hadn't seen before. The class was really fun and super interesting. There was a lot of reading but it was mostly short stories and there was plenty of time between assignments. Definitely would take again and probably will sit in on some classes.

Dr. Poss is engaging, entertaining and very well-read. I sat in on his class, Art and Astronomy, and while I cannot provide you knowledge of his tests, I can tell you that if you go to his lectures and read what he asks of you, you will pass this class. I can also say with certainty that his lectures are worth much more than a grade.

Very confusing course. He is very arrogant and unhelpful when preparing the students for the tests. You must do well on the tests or you will fail. Paper is easy and the class has no homework or readings. TA is pretty unhelpful, if you can remember every detail of what he says, then you should do okay on the tests.

Certainly not the easiest class I ever took, but most definitely manageable. There is no homework or readings for the class besides one large paper at the end of the semester. Poss, knows what he is talking about and is more than willing to help if you need it. Overall great teacher, challenging gen ed.

Poss knows what he is teaching. His lectures can sometimes be dry and his first test was really hard, but otherwise it is an easy class that doesn't require much of your time. Just show up (it's once a week, if you're that lazy don't even bother enrolling). You'll do fine. There is some extra credit.

Great Professor. Truly one of the best gen-eds offered, because of the course material and the way he taught the class. Very interesting sense of humor that I enjoyed. Tests weren't too bad as long as you went to class. Definitely a good experience overall

An excellent professor. The class had very little homework. No textbooks except for a few cheap novels. Class was mostly based on his lectures, so attendance, while not mandatory, was crucial. Class consisted of two exams (which were generously curved), a 10-page paper, and a final. Overall pretty easy A.

By far the best Gen Ed I've taken at the U of A. Poss is so great and extremely knowledgeable! You absolutely must go to class! The assignments are almost 100% based on his lectures. There are no notes online. No grades on D2L...so my grade in the class was somewhat of a mystery until the end...but managed an A by attending all lectures.
