This is the best class I've taken at UH. Clearly passionate about History and wants students to really think about phenomena. Extra credit opportunities are available; grades are only based on reading a few books and doing reviews, plus participation. Unfortunately, he is retiring after Fall18, so if you have a chance to take a class with him, do!

Truly one of the best professors I have ever had. His class is so much more than just a history class. You learn about everything and engage in interesting discussions throughout the semester. I highly recommend you take one of his classes, you will not regret it!

If you like discussion, he's the guy to take. Assigns interesting readings. No tests. Just a bunch of short writing assignments. One of the coolest teachers that I have had at UH. Has a wealth of knowledge and makes history an interesting topic. If you do what he says to do on his syllabus, there is no reason that you cannot get an easy "A".

One of the best professors I have had in college. So knowledgeable about what he teaches and loves to see when the students are engaged and interested in what he is talking about, so speak up during discussion and don't be afraid that you will be judged. He makes it really clear in class that everyone is valuable during discussion. Would recommmend

Fantastic individual and professor. My first history class, and I loved it. He allows his classroom to be an open vessel for communication and his class discussions are very interesting. I had many mind-opening moments, and enjoyed his at-ease manner. I appreciated how he made every student feel special and a valuable asset to his class.

Rapson is the best professor I've ever had. He teaches the class to discuss issues and sees education in a progressive way most other professors do not. I've learned more about myself and my views because of his class. I think everyone should take his classes if they get the opportunity. He is very informative and you really learn from his class.

A great professor also a great writer. his class is really easy i think he gives everyone a good grade as long as you attend the course and talk a bit. he brings out some interesting material and loves class discussions. there is a lot of books to buy which is cheap online and a lot of writing but its really not that hard just time consuming

absolutely amazing teacher. Attendance is super important because he likes to have class discussions but they are fun so attending class is easy. He makes you think and has you analyze things in discussions. If you love history, you will love this teacher. If you take his class and attend every day, youll get a good grade

One of the best professors I've had! Inspires interesting class discussions and debates. Our class was combined with a psychology class he taught which brought a new spin to american culture. It is writing intensive but you just have to turn in a packet at the end of the semester so the work is really spaced out. Attendance counts

too bad more university courses weren't like this. you don't have to be scared about your grade so you can relax and really take time to think which in turn makes you care more about the subject matter. his discussion style classes make everything a lot more interesting. just one catch- don't procrastinate on the reading because you WILL regret it

A very intelligent, but sometimes boring professor. He's very liberal and may upset conservative students with his views. The discussions were effective in getting me to think. He gives a lot of good insight into many things. Everything is turned in at the end of the semester in one big packet. He's a lenient grader though.

What a joke! He was supposed to be preparing us for our senior thesis course, but we didn't turn any papers in until the last day of school. NO FEEDBACK! Many of us received the same exact joking comments on our papers after the end of the term. I doubt if he read the papers. I learned nothing in his class except his opinions on music and sex.
