Comment:

He's unclear in that everything he explains just turns out to be more complicated than it should be. lecture powerpoints are sloppy - my guess is he intended to write incomplete notes to benefit those who came to class to complete them, unfortunately the lectures don't clarify on these sloppy notes. Nice guy. Class too long. Pillow recommended.

This class was very difficult. His slides are illegible, and his discussions were designed to prove his superiority. the diary was impossible, his lectures perilously boring. He would rather talk about the geography of mars. AVOID!

Comment:

His not that bad of a teacher. His exams ARE very very easy. Just remember everything on his slides (which have 2 sentences per slide) and also remember the maps legends. He gives bonus marks which count as an extra 1%. His diary was free marks. His lectures are boring and have mass discussions. If you study and don't slack you can get an A.

Comment:

Expects students to know geology prior to attending class (even if elective), which is probably why he does not like to be disturbed, only by true geology students. Boring lectures, long time to receive grades and tough grader. Go to every lecture for in class discussions, pay attention, study and memorize what he says, will earn you bonus grades.

Grow up. Although his slides were often unclear, and his lectures were monotonous at the best of times, Dr. Soare is a fairly easy marker and is approachable. He will give you attitude if you are rubbing the sleep out of your eyes when asking him the due date of an assignment, which he had posted online and repeated in class (you were sleeping).

STAY away!! I made the mistake of not coming to this website to check out how he is... omg worst teacher I ever had at concordia. If you're looking to fall asleep this is the class for you. He is so boring you can not even stay awake. Don't be fooled by the title of the class, it has nothing to do with earth moon and the planets.Class ruined my GPA

It seems like everyone has basically summed up what I think of Soare. No truer words have been spoken "there is no way this man has a PHD". He is mean,arrogant, often wrong, rude,lazy,horrible powerpoints and gives unclear instructions. and ENOUGH WITH THE PINGOS ALREADY !!!! the class is about EARTH MOON AND PLANETS. NOT PINGOS& THERMOKARST LAKES

Honestly, I can't even begin to tell you what a horrible professor this guy is. He is so so unclear with assignments, is NOT willing to help you ONE bit (says you MUST see him in his office for any questions) well Richard, your a man with a PHD, you should be smart enough to know that people are not as likely to visit your office. Subject seemed really cool but he makes it painful. worst prof ive ever had, for sure. The only fun part was watching the steady stream of tortured people poor out of the room over the course of each class. Anyway, richard soare is a really **** soar and should be avoided like the plague.

Teacher looks fairly knowledgeable. Makes the class participate but seems to consider every answer that a student gives to a question like a wrong answer even though he repeats exactly the same thing right after. Quizzes were not so difficult. Final exam covers a lot of material. Lectures are long.

He's so awful.If you have him, drop him now.some descriptive adjectives: boring,arrogant,self-centered,unhelpful, vindictive,mean,often WRONG.He has no idea how to conduct a class discussion, and will let people flounder for an answer in a topic we haven't even been introduced to for 20+ m before saying the answer. Words fail to describe how incompetant this man is. Soare, retire now, you make students despise whatever subject your teaching. you cannot give clear instructions for term papers. your powerpoints contradict themselves. you are condescending, which you have no right to be because I am smarter than you, along with my 5 year old cousin.

This teacher is incomprehensible, has no scientific background and very unapproachable. I once emailed him with questions and he told me to go see him and when I did he just bit my head off. And was very rude. And not helpful. And told me the wrong thing. Now I hate geology. I will make sure never to take mr. condescending SOARE again in my life.

I was very interested in this class prior to taking it. Now I hate astronomy. He does not approach topics in a scientific and comprehensible way. I highly doubt he has any scientific background, more like a philosophy or social science academic type who enjoys garbage papers with a million sources.

Very unpleasant. Arrogant, went to see him in his office and scolded me for not coming earlier. Not helpful at all. Contradicts himself many times. Wants his students to write academic papers where phrases are 10 lines long and make no sense. Obsessed with pingos and thermokarst lakes. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
