I do not like the school here, but Dr. Swanson was a great professor. He truly cares about his students and wants to get to know you. Lovely fellow. You write a lot of papers but they're fun to write... and i hate writing. Would definitely take his class again. super smart and overall nice guy

Excellent professor. Very personable and cares fiercely for his students. He was my advisor for three years and I've learned so much. Tips: schedule meetings with him if you don't understand something, papers: be creative, take risks and make as many connections as you can, tests: write like hell - they are all essay-based.

Good Professor. He enjoys talking the entire lecture about events from the books you will read. His tests include 3 or 4 questions but require you to write the ENTIRE class period or you will fail the test. A lot of reading but the books are (normally) interesting.

Dr. Swanson is an incredible professor! His class is engaging and will make you think (alot) Some of the readings are difficult, but if you embrace the challenge and do your best, you will find its a very enjoyable experience. He is also super nice, and very smart. A true Augie professor.

I've taken his Civitas Religion 110 class and WOW. I'm very sad to have to be done with it. I wasn't that interested in religion before but I may minor in it now. Super intelligent, amazing lectures, great storyteller and excellent one-on-one. You will work- HARD, but it's so worth it. This class will change the way you think about everything.

I took Swanson's Honors Exploring Christian Faith during the fall of my freshman year. Prior to it, I really had minimal interest in religion. By the end, however, Swanson's clear passion and ability to engage the class had me considering picking up the topic as my major. There's a lot of reading, but it's interesting stuff.

Hard, doesn't even explain it. We had to read 9 books for his class, and all pretty much at the same time. So i would spend probably ten hours reading these 9 books just to simply confuse myself over the material i didn't get anyways. he is really smart and loves to display the fact that he knows many languages.he also has personalized examquestion

I was told that Dr. Swanson was a teacher that would throw you out into deep waters and expect you to swim back. Well he did and it was an amazing experience, one that effected my life forever. If only there were more people like him! Take his class, its worth your time and hard work!

I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Swanson. I don't expect to meet very many people like him during my life. He's intelligent, helpful, and deeply passionate about his family, students, teaching, learning, and living the good life. I learned a great deal not only from his lectures, but also from the example he sets by action.

I love Dr. Swanson. He's one of the greatest people I've ever known and one of the best profs on campus. Take every class possible class with him. His lectures are deeply moving and you can tell he has real passion for what he teaches. Wonderful man!
