Prof. DeMaris comes off as old school but is very in touch with students' concerns, such as textbook costs. Class is 85% lectures, mostly boring, but you set your own participation level. Not much reading required, some writing, and his desire for feedback is nice.

Class was boring, didn't really learn that much. He grades papers and tests with some stupid quota system and compares students papers in determining grades. Attendance and participation was 30% of the class...and although i went to every class because i didn't talk much I got a C+ on that portion, watch out. Take someone else for 200.

DeMaris is an ultra-hard grader. Gives sub par grades to good students just to prove a point. He is also a member of a context sensitive biblical group that is off basis with a great deal of modern theological scholarship

His Understanding the Bible class was okay, I suppose. He's not a great professor. He's not terrible. I found it just very... average, really. Kind of dry at times. Part of it depends on who's in your class with you.
