He made soc theory extremely interesting! Although he only really covers a handful of theorists (Marx, Durkheim, etc). His tests are straightforward and if you go to class, you'll do fine on them. There are weekly quizzes on the readings which are a pain, but not terrible. If you put in some effort, this is not a hard class to get an A in.

The way he teaches is amazing. I wish I took him earlier so I could have taken more of his classes! Hands down best professor Ive had in the 4 years Ive been at UNF. He does not read off of PowerPoints, something any student can do at home. He talks about his subject, hes very passionate and actually makes you understand the subjects and topics.

Four grades: three exams, one paper. No textbooks. All PDFs provided via Canvas. Super funny. Doesnt keep you for the whole class if the material was covered for the day. One of the best sociology professors at UNF.

Hands down my favorite teacher. He has a very dark and witty sense of humor that makes the class so much fun. However, if you are deeply religious he may offend you because he heavily studies religion and incorporates it into class. But an amazing teacher and uses personal stories as examples. I would take him again in a heart beat.

I am taking a once a week 3 hour lecture class with this professor. If you miss class or don't read the online readings you definitely get behind. If you read the readings and went to class you pretty much do well on the quizzes and tests.

Knows. His. Stuff. He gives pop quizzes to make sure you have done the reading, but if attendance is low he will just have you sign a sheet for pop quiz points. He is a very very smart professor and obviously likes his job.

Love Dr. Phillips. Love his lectures. His lectures are so interesting, I hate it when it's over. Tough tough class, but he goes above and beyond in providing his students with plenty or resources. Attendance is mandatory for passing, but not for grading. His lectures are so awesome, I'm taking another class with him, just for fun.

He is my favorite professor at UNF! Lectures are always interesting and funny, which made me actually look forward to going to class. Lots of reading, short quizzes, and 3 exams (multiple choice). No papers or projects. Gives extra credit too. Definitely take him!

Rick is by far my favorite professor! I love his sense of humor! Doesn't require a book, yet manages to explain lectures thoroughly and keeps them interesting. There's a quiz each class based on online readings (5 easy questions, if you read of course). As long as you take notes on lecture and read, there should be no reason to not pass with an A

By far my favorite professor. He has opinion but doesn't turn down others opinion. Very funny. There are a lot of readings but all of them are on the exams so don't ignore them.

Dr. Phillips is the best professor at UNF. I take every class I can with him. His easiness level depends on the class; he's more firm in mandatory classes such as Logic, but with electives he lets the class decide what they want to learn a lot. There are a lot of readings, but you can get by without them sometimes. He tries to make everything fun.

Had all this guy's classes. The smartest sociology professor by far. Strong opinions but respects those that disagree. can be forgetful and disorganized but makes up for it by being a super nice guy.

Easy going professor.Tests are essays only, questions hard to interpret what he's asking. One question quizes before every class to see if you read the assignment. Not an easy class because textbook is not easy to comprehend.Starts strong with statistics but gets better. Hang in there it's mandatory and he's the best professor for the course.

One of my favorite professors I've taken. In his Deviance course, he doesn't require a textbook because he feels the industry has a monopoly on books and over-charges for them. Lectures can be off-topic slightly, but still very interesting. A lot of reading on blackboard. Very nice and intelligent professor. Highly recommended!!!

Alot of long, and sometimes useless readings, but overall easy class. Tests were fairly easy if you read and came to class. He gives away extra credit just for showing up. Not really sure I'd say he is a qualified professor though, he mostly taught his favorite subjects, rather than Intro. to Soc. Rabbit trails and crazy, pointless stories.

Took him for Intro to Sociology, so it was a big lecture class. His lectures are really interesting, and he makes a lot of jokes. Got me really interested in Sociology. No textbook, but he put readings on Blackboard. Attend class and read and there will be no problem at all. Also gives lots of extra credit for attending class.
