If you wish you weren't in EECS and just want to graduate, take EECS 441 with Sugih. Unless you wish you were in ENTR instead of EECS. Then avoid at all costs.

Incredibly picky, gives very tedious work, makes us redo much of our work from scratch if not done right, and in general, very arrogant. I do not recommend taking a class with him.

Comment:
Classes just consisted of Sugih reading off the slides. Projects and homeworks were horribly written. Sugih didn't know half the content he was teaching and contradicted the book. EECS 489 is the one class I regret taking in my undergrad thanks to Sugih.

Sugih gets an undeserved bad rap. Class was very well organized, a lot of it was self-driven. Could have been taught better, but wasn't bad. Sugih also really likes what he teaching, is the happiest guy in the department, and is very willing to meet for office hours.

One of the worst teachers I've had the misfortune to meet. Very badly calibrated expectations of student work; poorly planned and bug-ridden project descriptions - how are you supposed to get the ridiculous amount of work done in time when the specifications keep changing and being "updated" (read: mistakes corrected). Avoid like the plague.

Useless and hard. He barely knew the stuff(3d graphics) and he even admitted. 80% of his lecture he just laid back and had his GSI handle the lecture and questions. Yet the projects, exams are very, very hard. Avoid him at all cost except 281, where you pretty much have no choice.

Honestly he's a good teacher. I learned a ton from the class. I personally feel like he made the class too difficult. I didn't finish a single project in the class even though I worked harder than ever before. If you can take this class with a different teacher your GPA might thank you.

This class was extremely difficult and very time consuming, but Sugih was an excellent teacher and I learned a ton. The projects were very, very, very, very long and very, very, very, very hard. (Medians were below 50 with standard deviations in the 20s or 30s). If you take a class with Sugih you will learn a lot, but you will work for your grade

The class was extremely difficult, but it forced me to learn a lot. If you're looking for an easy class dont take one with him. If you're looking to learn a lot then take his classes.

Jamin is a great prof, and I assure you that if you take 281 with him you will learn a tremendous amount and become a much better programmer. The class is EXTREMELY difficult. I spent an entire weekend awake in the library to finish a project and, as usual, the rest of the class was there too. Highly recomended, but not with other hard classes.

Best professor I've had at the University, period. Taken two classes with him. The classes are very difficult, but I actually learned new things (which I find rare around here). I've never had trouble understanding him, so not sure what people are complaining about there. Plus he has great contacts in the industry for guest speakers.

Sugih's the best professor that I have had at UofM. Class was very tough, but forced you to learn a LOT. Sugih is a friendly, very likeable guy. 398 forced me to work harder than any other class I have taken at Michigan, but it was very worth the effort. I would definately recommend Sugih to anyone with a good work ethic and a desire to learn.

Really bad professor. No one can understand him, uses 100 slides per minute, is very unhelpful. Very cocky too. Do not take a class.

By far the best Computer Science professor I had at Michigan and one of the best teachers I've had in my life. This guy is awesome - more a coach than a teacher - always pushing you to your absolute limit and beyond.
