Comment:
One of the most condescending professors/people I have encountered in my college career up to this point. When I had to miss a single practice (that he had rescheduled to a different day only weeks before) for a religious event I had already committed to, he accused me of lying and belittled me in front of other students, bringing me to tears.

Very difficult to work with if he doesn't love you. However, if he doesn't like you, he won't make your life miserable, I give him that. Excellent conductor and director; really knows how to make a choir sound better. However, he is one of the most uptight and passive aggressive people I have ever worked with. For newcomers, don't worry too much.

People say bad things about Dr. Natter that I don't understand. I am in concert choir and he has seeked me out after class to compliment me and get to know me, even though I am not the best singer. I have learned a lot about choir from him and I feel comfortable asking for advice. Only criticism is he favors college choir by a large margin

Dr. Roob is awesome! He's a wonderful conductor, musician, and person, and you will learn SO MUCH from him! Just give him a chance, and don't let others scare you off from getting to know him. He's not the best at connecting and gives off an imposing first impression, but he cares DEEPLY about his students' and is very trustworthy.

ROOB!! He's such a wonderful choir director, and getting to know him over the years has been so much fun. Don't let his demeanor scare you off. He may appear really intense and almost mean at first, but he isn't, I promise! He's totally awesome.

Natter loves to belittle students. It seems to be a hobby. He's a good conductor, and you will sound a good, but if you aren't a fan of getting belittled by a very arrogant man, don't join an ensemble of his.

Natter knows his stuff. He's an excellent conductor, unfortunately, he is not a nice guy to anyone who is not in GCC. He is very arrogant, and seems to enjoy belittling anyone in concert choir. Don't take a bid to choir unless it is GCC...

He is brilliant conductor- he knowshow to get a great sound out of us and there are a lot of rewards such as great people and fun trips. It is A LOT of time and work. I sometimes think he cares more about looking good than about the students. In my four years here he hasn't been to one outside event(i.e. theatre, dance, a capella)Prioritizes GCC1st

Dr. Natter no doubt expects excellence. His remarks can be a bit biting, but he gets his point across. I have learned a great deal with Natter, and I have worked with choir directors who were much ruder and expected much more of people with less talent.

the most anal man I've ever met, he ****ed at me for missing 2 classes last semester, he speaks down to students he doesn't like, he gets mad when things don't go his way...the one good thing is he is somewhat willing to help with assignments.

I think that Dr. Natter is an extremely gifted professor. He only demands a lot from his students because he knows their potential, and wants them to realize it as well. I would hate it if I had a different choir director and voice teacher.

Dr. Natter is more interested in his own career advancement than the advancement of his students, which is countercultural to the Gettysburg College campus attitude.

Choir aka forced socialization is not fun for everyone. It's a huge time commitment which is never expressed in the course catalogue. Be prepared to give up some weekends and your spring break.
