He bumbles through problems and mixes up numbers, but his slides are really helpful. He wants students to have the very expensive newest edition, but at least he uses it a lot. Not sure he was the best choice, but I will get a good grade. He provides a lot of material online to study.

Basically this class is not that difficult. Appleton does not add to it nor lessen the difficult of the material. in this class to do well on tests, you do his practice tests and the practice tests on the books website and you should do fine. You have all the material you need to teach yourself the material and that is the way it is.

One of the worst teachers at UNCW. reads u practice problems in the book, then assigns u homework problems to do in the book. so you teach yourself how to do EVERYTHING. then gives u practice tests.. dont be fooled tho, his test are 10x harder and nothing like ANY of the homework problems or practice tests. Sweet guy. just needs to retire n be done

The worst teacher I have ever had. Never prepared. Can't teach. Practice tests are different actual tests, his are generally more difficult. Makes rude comments about low test grades. Dr. Appleton is the worst teacher by far. The practice tests he gives are nothing like the real tests so everyone fails. If you can teach hard accounting to yourself, then you MIGHT to okay. First, I bought the international version of the book, SAME book for half the price. Only take this class if you like to be talked to and not taught. He does not use visual aids or even write on the board when going over the material directly from the book. Test are hard, if you do not study you will fail them.

Only after I got out of school did I realize that he really is a good teacher. Teaches you to learn in the real world, not just to pass a test like so many others. Super nice guy on top of that!

Ok,I adore Dr. Appelton but as a teacher... well, he isn't a good one. I got a tutor and still didn't do good in his class. He was willing to help but he only taught one way and I just couldn't get it.. just be sure you can listen because all he will do is read to you whats on the board.

Appleton was a very nice guy, but you have to teach yourself. His exams were not the easieast things in the world, but I'm sure if you taught yourself the book you would be just fine. I would not recommend this class. I'm sure he's a great accountant, but he's not meant for teaching!

Im majoring in accounting because he made this class fun... yes his tests can sometimes be hard.. but accounting isnt suppose to be easy... if you read the chapters and study you'll do fine
