Comment:

Brookins is a little different, but a good teacher overall. He explains the material thoroughly and the focus is on understanding real world application. The final exam was not difficult. He personable, entertaining, and respectful. Would definitely take for another class.

Terrible prof. Late for almost every class. Dwells on stupid facts for each case. 26/50 questions on final dealt w/ statutory interpretation lecture that we covered on ONE evening in class. Exam was all multiple choice. There were < 20 students in the class. It's been over a month since the exam. Still no grade. Par for the course.

Comment:

Labor Law. Enjoyable. Prof. Brookins has a deliberate teaching method. He is repetitive and focuses on practical application of the material. He does not lecture in a traditional manner and note taking is often not very helpful. He is tangential & tells a lot of stories (good stories). He expects you to learn on your own, like a professional.

worst prof/teach I've ever had, not just law school. would never have gone to class but mandatory. learned nothing. cancelled classes after we were there. poorly written exam. focus on one case we barely talked about. spent days on unimportant subjects. DO NOT TAKE!!

I've had Brookins for two classes. You see a trend in these comments about his lateness and disrespect for students and slow classpace. Both are sadly true. He has an elitist view compared to students at times. However he IS incredibly brilliant and knowledgeable about the subject. You shouldn't avoid him if you are interested in the material.

STAY AWAY! Terrible professor! Will never ever take another class taught by him! He was late, extremely slow moving through materials, apparently has an issue with women and the exam was ridiculous! A majority of the exam was over the ?make up? material he emailed us less than 48 hours before the exam not what we actually went over for 16 weeks.

Horrible. Avoid at all costs! He was constantly late. We moved super slow to then have to cram the last week. The final was NOTHING like he said. There were questions on the exam over material never covered in class. Avoid him!

Brookins is definitely an amiable guy, but that's not enough to overcome his shortcomings as a professor. He was inconsiderate of students' time (habitually late/off topic), rarely explained the material in a comprehensible manner, and failed to proofread his examination. I'm interested in the topic, and was thus sorely disappointed with the class.

Prof moved at snail's pace (~35 cases for semester, 4 cr). Prof often late, & off topic or trapped w/in facts of cases. Exam's a nightmare. Prof said certain material wouldn't be on exam, then it was (Only 2 essays). Said he threw 1 essay out, but who knows. Received worst grade in LS, and he claimed tech probs when I asked 4 my exam, never got it.

Avoid him at all cost. Took a summer class and it was horrible. Constantly late, completely disorganized and less than respectful of his students' lives. Particularly annoying was his penchant for either failing to send assignments as promised or sending them mere hours prior to class. Save your time and money, don't take his class.

Love Prof. Brookins, despite agreeing that he's frequently late for class and fails utterly to keep you informed about the class schedule. However, he's intensely passionate, philosophical, and knowledgeable (I took his Sex Discrimination class) and breaks issues down to their core. YMMV, but I wish all my classes were this intense and enriching.

This professor is rambling incoherent and rude. He is perpetually 25 minutes late for class but will reduce your grade for three absences. He does not teach at all and then expects you to somehow figure out what is on the exam. AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. HORRIBLE.
