Absolutely worse professor!! True, he does not take crap from annoying students. But if you need help, he is very arrogant. He is knowledgeable, BUT will not bother to explain things in class. The class itself is not hard, he is just an unbelievable bad professor.

I would not recommend him as a teacher. While he was obviously very knowledgeable, he was not very good at teaching this material. He lectured excessively on unrelated things and wouldn't answer students specific questions. A lot of students were confused the majority of the semester.

He was my major professor while I was a grad student in Russian in the 90s. His courses were always interesting because this guy really has a passion for linguistics, conjugation and the famous "falling of the yers". Quirky, yet knowledgeable and brillant. An enormous help to me in grad school. I wish his classes has been given in Russian though.

Very knowledgable of the structures of many languages. Taught clearly and didn't take any BS from the whiny, annoying students in the front of the room. Gotta respect that.

Uh, this dude was NUTS. And not in a good way. The class was NOT HELPFUL unless you have a background in Russian, because that's the only language he would give examples in. He also has this weird habit of standing on his toes.

This guy is a TRIP. He wears two different types of plaid all the time! He has a great sense of humor, is easy going, very wordy and elaborate when he doesn't really need to be, very accomodating. I think he is my favorite professor I've had here at Purdue. I highly reccomend this class to all!
