Extremely condescending to students, and very disrespectful. Will take off major points for minor mistakes on assignments. Not helpful during class, and not accessible outside of class. Rarely responds to e-mails. Comes off as very stubborn and rude.

the professor gives grades by estimation based on latest assignment. he does not go with your numerical grades and whole work, and he just gives estimate. very bad experience, and he does not respond as quick plus his syllabus is unclear. and he does not help by any way. I supposed get B+ but he give c+ because he feels so!

This prof is very conceited and does not hesitate to call students stupid. His course is very difficult and unless you're an English major, I advise you to say away. One piece of advice I want to give you is to go see him in his office hours so he can revise your research paper. That's why I got an A. Good luck getting through his lectures!

Comment:

Dr. Cioffi excels at pushing students to become better actors and students and gives strong feedback accordingly. He does not give easy A's, but you will be rewarded if you invest the time. The two most important phrases he says in class are "Details matter" and "Actor, save thyself." Live by these rules and this class will make you a better actor.

Best prof. I've ever had. It pains me to see such negative reviews, probably just students not wanting/willing to do the work. He is the best teacher, he made me care so deeply about acting. Everything he said about dramatic work stuck with me. If anyone has an interest in drama, he is the man to go to. Every teacher should strive to be like him.

I took him for comp I online and it was the worst decision I ever made. He was the worst professor I had my entire time at ccm. He was not helpful and tough on grades. Anytime I had a question I would email him and ask and he would never return my emails which resulted in failing the assignments.

This professor is rude and disrespectful. He allows non ccm students to perform in the productions so how can the students paying to be in the class learn anything. He doesn't care about students learning, all he cares about is his ego & putting on a good show without students learning or growing. He's ruining CCM drama program Huge Disappointment!

Professor C was AMAZING!! I took him for comp I and wish I had him for comp II!! He's such a good guy. His class was always laughing and talking, but in a good way. He said that we were the best class he's ever had. Make sure to read! If you have the opportunity, take him. He gives good feedback and directs the course to the needs of his students.

I took him for comp I and he was awesome. You have to work for your grade but most of the stuff isn't hard. He's a very intelligent man and I never dreaded coming to class but don't skip because you'll miss a lot.

Professor Cioffi is a very intelligent man who is very easy to listen to and get along with. Like with any other professor you have to show up and do your work and if you do that you'll be just fine. The class isn't terribly exciting but I never walked out after without being intrigued and learning something new.

I simply do not have the time to go over how royally terrible this man is as both a teacher and a director. While I admit the final product of shows he puts on are serviceable they are by no means beautiful or easy to be in. By controlling every little detail (in an incredibly rude manner) he allows for no room in which personal growth can occur.

I have him for almost all of my classes, plus as a director, he is just as tough all around. Specifically about DRA229 (Directing), your grade relies on the good will of other actors and their skill level with little to no incentive for them to be reliable to you. Claims you should have "insurance policy," backups, nearly impossible to please him.

This guy was pretty awesome. He made speech class very fun. Also, if you have a fear of public speaking he will help you dramatically. I highly recommend him.
