I honestly loved everything about modcon 1. Costello runs the class like a discussion and if you are in class, you basically have all the material for your 4 essays. His final is easy and he lets you bring a cheat sheet. As long as you read the required text before class, youll do well.

I've taken Professor Costello for Mod Con I and II. I finally got to take him again for his Honors Seminar. It was amazing, as expected. Hard part was the first paper was 5 pages, and the second paper 15 pages. The final is easy as always. You have to read a chapter or two and present that to the class. Feasible A.

Comment:

Overall, Costello was a good professor, and considering that this was an honors class, the amount of work was to be expected. The only warning is that he does require everyone to present one of the readings to the class, but that was the only extra work he assigned.

I really enjoyed having him. I was really said that I couldn't have Prof. Costello the following semester. He assigns presentations on a specific reading to everyone in the class, but they were very helpful. Essays and readings are the only homework and if you ever need help he is very friendly and approachable.

Prof. Costello's class was an experience, for sure. While the workload stressed me out immensely and I was a bundle of nerves before every class, I still learned from him. He goes off on tangents, though, and will rush through readings by the end. Take notes! Incorporate what he says in your papers; he'll love it. Actually made me a better writer.

One thing that I would warn about his classes is that he wants the students to present throughout the semester. Other than that, he is a wonderful professor. His classes aren't easy but they are manageable and he's always willing to help.

I graduated in 2002. Took all the classes he taught, the 2 mod cons, 2 electives he taught for juniors & seniors, & "Mass media in a changing world" as a Comm elective. He taught us how to think, write effectively, elaborately, & elegantly. My 1st paper, I thought was great, got a B. Looking back, I think it was a badly written great story :)

I had him as a professor in the late 70's and I am surprised he's still there. I thought he was a great professor and one of the few that I remembered. His father was the President of Adelphi University when I was an undergraduate student there. I have fond memories of my educational experience there in the communications department.

Heard awesome things about him, but found myself defending my opinion/values rather than discussing them during class. I was sometimes literally afraid to say what I thought because I was shut down/misunderstood so often. Nice, intelligent man but slightly close-minded.

coming from a slacker, i think that he's pretty decent. i got the grade i deserved. and he was even a little nicer the second time around. he just wants you to think. lets u hand in late papers (but dont take advantage of this too much). vague assignments. mention a current event every now and then. presents interesting ideas. i'd take him again.

Pete's the man. He's cool, he's down to earth, he's filled with great advice, and unlike most of the hacks at Adelphi, he's smarter than me. If I could grade him, A+!
