This is by far the worst professor I've ever had. He does not grade realistically and told our class that we are not writing on a college level. He offered little feedback on big papers, he just left comments like "needs to develop more" or "you might need a different approach." Very unhelpful and expects the class to write on his level.

Smart man, terrible professor. You don't know what you have in the class until the end, doesn't give letter grades on any papers. If you want an A, TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR. If you use SparkNotes he fails you automatically.

For starters, if you are trying to get an A, accept the fact that it just will not happen. He grades your papers based on his level of writing. he gives good feedback but you can't read it. Strange grading scale. Papers are on a scale of 1-6. If you get a 4, you probably are a genius. I would avoid at all costs. I got an average grade

Hes a very intelligent man but one of the worst professors at the university. Do not take this class if you want to pass without hating your professor. He will lecture about off topic subjects and will not answer many questions, only tells you to read the syllabus.

This class will lower your GPA. Hardest teacher I ever had! I got an A in College Writing and now may not even get a B in this class! He uses all these fancy words when he lectures, and no one ever knows what he is saying. Avoid if you can!

If you are looking for an easy A, avoid this class. If you are looking to genuinely improve your writing, take this class. Dr. Crafton offers a lot of valuable feedback on your essays, and he will meet with you and help you improve them (and your grade) at any point in the semester. This class should definitely be necessary to take in college.

Many comments on here say that in the end they learned a lot but that isn't really the case. He makes the course unnecessarily difficult and literally told us that he won't give us an A. Instead of being a writing based course we read four books and didn't pay nearly as much attention to our writing. More of an interpreting lit class, DO NOT take.

Dr. Crafton is a very intelligent professor who is very clear and concise about what he expects from his class. I can honestly say the only reason I didn't do well as a Freshman in ENGL 102 with him is because I didn't put forth the effort.

I had him for Int.Lit. His class is boring & I don't think he grades fairly. You're graded on a final portfolio that consists of journal entries, 6-8 essays and everything else from the class. Attendance is included. Smart but gets in way of lecture. Dont recommend.

Prof Crafton is a very intelligent man, no doubt. His ego often gets in the way of teaching an effective lesson though. He knows what he wants when he wants it though. The only thing is, the syllabus isn't online, so don't lose it!

I have found Dr. Crafton's College Writing class to be excellent as far as developing one's writing skills. While it is difficult, the work will make one a better writer overall.
