Dr. Hamilton is one of my favorite professors at Loyola. I took him for Med/Vet Entomology which was a very interesting bio elective and had a pretty fun lab. Dr. Hamilton teaches the most important elements of the subject and makes sure you know them. Test were not bad as long as you took good notes from his lectures. Take his class!

He was one of the worst professors that i have taken a class with so far. He was not very helpful, he said all his exams would be based on lectures but were NOT!! I felt that he was very rude because i am hispanic and asked if english was my first language and how did i have the GPA i have now.

Hamilton is great! By far my fave class i've taken so far. Take notes on EVERYTHING he says in class, scan the chapters, but focus on the in-class stuff. He's got strict rules that he doesn't change, but it is very possible to do well.

Don't read out of the book, that was the top mistake of many students even though he tells you you should. The tests are solely based on lectures, the book is just there if you want to know more. His lectures are very good, but a little different from most bio professors, but if you remain interested and study hard an A is easily attained.

Dr. Hamilton made me doubt whether I even wanted to major in biology. His lectures were simply images from the book. His tests were absolutely ridiculous; did not test our knowledge. He tested over facts he mentioned one time and expected us to memorize. This class is not a biology class- it's an anatomy class Dr. Hamilton style. I don't recommend.

Dr. Hamilton is one of the best professors at Loyola, a must take for any bio major. His class is interesting and well-organized, making studying much easier. Exams based off of notes, so go to class and pay attention. Also, he takes time to get to know his students and is very approachable.

As long as you attend all classes and take good notes, its hard not to do well in this class. He tells you exactly what will be on the test. If you are confused, he is more than willing to help you out- he is very approachable. One of my favorite professors at Loyola!

He is a great prof, very helpful, available outside of class, willing to explain concepts (although he is very clear to begin with). Take careful notes AND read the book. Everything that comes out his mouth is fair game for the exam so GO TO CLASS. If he gets to know you outside of class he'll go the extra mile for you. Higly recommended. =)

I really do not understand any of the negative comments about this teacher... I thought he was great. He was very specific about which topics he was going to focus on, and basically gave you a free 20 points on each exam because he tells you all of the topics ahead of time. I would definitely recommend him!

Took him this summer. Hard to tell how he would be during the normal school year since summer moves at an unforgiving pace if ure not on top of it. Study the lecture notes and compare them to the book, also RECORD his lectures, he doesnt like to repeat himself. Overall an A is very possible if your serious about ure GPA.

HORRIBLE! I took him in the summer, which probably makes things worse. He doesn't answer questions, doesn't use a powerpoint, and sometimes teaches us differently than the book ie, uses different vocab terms. If you're going to take this class and are determined to do well, make sure to take GOOD NOTES, read the book thoroughly & study study study!

Unpleasant and insincere as a professor.Has favorites. Tests are taken mostly from the lecture (including v. specific details mentioned in passing) with a few random qs from the book. A is possible but requires alot of work and thorough study of EVERYTHING covered in the lecture and book. His attitude and unfriendliness prevent me from recommending.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is the worst professor you can take as a premed. he does not care what other classes you are taking, he will fail you if you miss a few of his lectures. I begged him for 2 pts so that i can pass his class, and he didnt, i assure you that u cant get anything higher than an B- in this course. prepare for a lot of hard work

Dr. Hamilton is easily one of the best professors at Loyola. His classes are challenging and he expects his students to know their stuff but that is his job. It's not his job to coddle a pre-med into thinking they're golden. He's a wonderful, caring, intelligent man that will help you accomplish your goals, if you're serious about them.

Great teacher, has a bad rap for his Bio 100 courses. His 300's are fun, small classes. He expects the best from his students. Knows his material even though it may be dry at times. Tests are not as difficult if you attend class. Would recommend Entomology to everyone

LOVE this teacher. Very genuine and nice; cares a lot about his students. tests are mostly from his lectures and based on examples so you understand the concepts not just to memorize and forget. no ppt but that helps you to take notes and use the book as reference. tests reflect how you study; it's work for an A but not too much work. def. take him

Covers good material but really does not care about the student. I had an injury to my right hand the day before and exam and could not use it and had a doctor's note, but yet he INSISTED THAT I TAKE THE TEST WITH MY LEFT HAND.

Not recommended. His lectures are dull and dry and a waste of time, but he does take attendance. Doesn't like students to ask questions during lecture. Random material on multiple choice tests makes getting an A like roulette, but an A- easy with study. Don't believe him when he says to just rely on what he covers in lecture - study from the book.
