I took this course and really enjoyed it. There was only a midterm and a final-each worth 50%. I liked this because its a required elective and so wasn't much work you had to do. The only bad thing is all he gives you is a big document of notes and he doesn't answer e-mails. If you are a person who needs clarification, then he's probably not best.

Two exams worth 50%. This would be perfectly acceptable if there were discussions to ensure you're not missing the mark. Hill doesn't answer emails in a timely fashion (or at all) and gives little (no) feedback on midterms. The exams are easy if you know what he's looking for, but you go in the first exam blind and your mark reflects that.

Took by distance. First day we were sent a 125 page course manual and told that a midterm on the first 5 chapters of the Text was on the 13th. That's it. When emailed for clarification only response was "read the course manual". No discussions or interaction. Essentially a self taught course. Whole grade based on midterm and final worth 50% each.

I took this course over distance and found it to be incredibly dull. No attempt to interact with students, no discussion forums, very few e-mails etc. I pretty much self-taught myself using the book and his notes. If you don't mind hours of dry material you can definitely pull off an A. However, I have done better D2L SOCI courses with other profs

Great prof. He really knows his stuff and is very clear when he is teaching. Very approachable and always willing to help. His exams are very fair. If you study, you will get a goo mark. Very important to attent ALL of his classes because he really goes into detail on the topics he's discussing. Really great prof!!

Such an intellegent man. Don't waste your time taking Soc 2000 with anyone else. His lectures are so interesting and his exams are very fair. He tests directly from his notes so attendance is important.

I had him for distance education and he wasn't very good. I didn't communicate with him once throughout the semester. I sent him two e-mails and he didn't respond. He didn't write on the discussion boards. He just put up an overview of the course and notes and then he was done. Not a hard course though. 50% midterm, 50% final.

He is so good with his lectures and helpful examples. His notes are outlined perfectly and it's easy to be able to write out what he says, pretty much word for word. You have to go to lectures and study the material well, but that's to be expected for any decent course.

I'm currently doing soc. 2000 distance and I'm not enjoying his teaching or lack there of. It's hard to know what to study and he expects way to much. He is giving us the opportunity to have our final weighed as more which is a bonus. Overall, I am not impressed with him.

Takes a course that could be pretty dry and makes it the most interesting fifty minutes of your day. Great notes, hilarious stories and examples that really help you to learn and remember the material. Notes are vital to exams, so don't bother taking the course if you aren't going to go to the lectures. Great prof, but not very approachable.

Did the course distance. Not to harsh if you study the right things. A lot of reading. Focus on the lecture notes for the exam's long answer questions.
