Comment:

Only take him as a last option. His explanations are confusing but his exams are easy. He gives study guides for exams which are pretty much the same as the exam. If you can do the study guide you can get a B or higher on the exam. Do yourself a favor and do some of the HW . Make crib sheets for all exams. Our final was a copy of the study guide.

His lectures are confusing & he doesn't teach he just does the problems on the board. he expects you to know a lot of the material already so he doesn't go into great detail. basically if you do his homework and use your crib sheet during tests you'll pass. the study guides are almost always identical to the tests so you just teach yourself.

If you expect to be spoon-fed, do not take this class. He expects you to be proficient in your basic math and to read the relevant sections of the text book before coming to class. Exams are tough but before every exam, he gives a study guide and explains the problems and the actual test is very much like the study guide.

Watching Prof. Horvath lecture is a lot like watching someone slowly succumb to Alzheimer's. He forgets all his papers, shows up to class a complete mess, writes down the wrong numbers/problems, and ignores the student's when they say they're lost. Another student best described it "He does not TEACH, but instead does the problems on the board."

horvath is a different type of teacher. hes a bit unorganized and hes old but tries his best and you can tell how smart he is. he talks about random things but teaches to help you. he gives you hw assignments due each week and uses mathematica or other programs. he also gives u study guides and lets u use a calc and crib sheet. makes 270 less hard

Very easy to get an A if you study and follow his study guide. More than 1/3 get A in my class. The homework will be considered as extra credit so do it! Take this teacher and commit to it. You will learn more than other 270 class.

I took his class in fall10. Looking back, the class was not all that hard. I went up to calc in highschool but screwed up on the placement test, so the class was basically a review for me. It is impossible to pay attention in class. His lectures are tediously boring. You MUST read and do ALL examples in the book to do well on the test. No E.C.

Horvath is a decent teacher. He's not very organized and is all over the place. His tests are somewhat easy, he gives you a sheet to put formulas on and sometimes even example problems. Make sure you cover every part of the study guide and you should be fine. He goes off topic at times and talks about random stuff, he's pretty funny.

His class is not very hard, but he does not offer any extra credits for his students. However, he will give you an A if you have a high B and stable attendance. He is a nice teacher, but he does everything fairly. So even though i did sth wrong by mistake, he won't give me a second chance to do that again.

Dr. Horvath is a fair teacher. You MUST attend all classes and READ the book to fully get it. As long as you do that, you will do OK. If you don't understand something, go to his office hours. He explains things much better than in class. Last Advice - Study, Study, Study
