His tests are a trick. But if you ask questions and go to class, you will rock at the homework. Labs are fun, but long.

Tests are almost identical through the years. I found this out on the third test and realized how everyone was doing so well in the class. If you have an old test it's an easy A otherwise they don't seem like any of the HW you've done.

Don't ever take a class with this professor. Easy homework but there is no way to pass his exams. Exam material is nothing like anything seen in class or in homeworks. Even if you know the material it is impossible to get an A in this class.

I love this guy. Very friendly, very informative (talk to him after class sometime) and has some great stories. Classes were fine until end of term, final material was hard for me and did bad on finals (blame material, damn inductors!). Knows his stuff for someone that graduated WPI before transistors were invented. Make sure you ask questions!

should retire. his class is very easy, but its terrible. if i didn't have good TA's the class would have been hell. he was corrected about once per class and he is terribly unorganized. there is no web site for this class, not even a syllabus. so you find out about tests a couple days before they happen. homework/labs are not like lectures at all.

He is a really nice guy, helpful and his tests and homework are reasonable and mostly expected. the key to do well in this class is to attend lecture every day and then it should be an easy course

Prof. Labonte explains things clearly. He worked in the industry for years and explains why what you're learning is important. He's not tricky, he'll help you when you ask. And he's a sweetheart.

Principle of Elect. Eng class. This teacher is the best teacher aroiund, very helpful, during office hours is always looking forward to help students. One of the best teachers I have had so far, fell free to try, is a fair grader and very helpful person. Took the class in the summer. Really recomend him if you are interested in learning.

Great guy all around and a very, very good taecher. Always willing to take the time to be helpful. And, has a good sense of humor -- lots of fun stories about WPI 50 years ago. This class in Aerospace avionics was a real blast. Learned lots about navigation and radar as well as how to predict performance. Don't miss it.

A bit of improvement from Mirco 1, i guess... but that doesnt say much. As expected he sucked, we didnt learn as much as we should have, 2 out of 6 labs were made "optional", and final exam was exempted for having > 95 avg. Easy class, but if you can help it, avoid Labonte - he is a useless tool.

Teaches very clearly (at least for 2011), will help you with things if you need help and speaks clearly. One thing: his hearing is getting worse from age it seems, if you need to ask a question say it loud and clear. Exams and homework are easy if you leave enough time for studying/working on them.

Despite being old and unorthodox in his style, I enjoyed Labonte's class. He explained things well, even printing out 100 pages of notes for every student in class. His exams were, with one exception, what was expected. He teaches in a real-world sense, and he seems to want his students to pass.

he sucks in plain and simple english....doesn't cover anything in lectures...exams are just a photocopy of his lecture reviews so as a result no knowledge is really tested...coming out of micro1 I feel I've learnt zilch...maybe I knew a lot more about transistors before I went in to this class...
