I would recommend this class! While he is very detailed in his grading, he is completely transparent in what he expects and the errors he does not want to see. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. As long as you follow his expectations you can easily get an A in this class!

Mr. Larson is awful. Material is poorly presented and lacks organization. Grading is overly harsh. He is VERY specific with what he wants, evident in grading. I would NEVER recommend his class to ANYONE.

DO NOT RECOMMEND as a teacher. Grades way too harshly, so harshly that there is a checklist you must follow and words you cannot use. After taking this class I now have anxiety about writing papers. I developed a learned helplessness from it. It was very difficult to learn the material because I was too focused on using this word and not that one.

What can I say? I love this guy; he changed my life. (Like the semicolon, Steve?) Haven't seen him in years but still think about him almost daily. He inspired me in life, in English, in college, in education, in my future. If you don't do anything else at Wake Tech, TAKE HIS CLASS. If you're open and willing it'll change your life.

He is not the most interesting teacher. He does grade harshly. Kind of felt like my high school english class. I also had approx 20-30 people at the start of class on only four people finished... whether or not they passed is another story... would not recommend if you aren't good with english classes...

Took English 112 w him online. Hardly qualifies as a class. Missing a discussion board counts as an absence. Usually 3 of them a week. Sometimes he'll skip one and double the attendance weight for the next one. Unreasonable, directions unclear, grades harsh because he can, chip on shoulder. 26 students started, 6 finished.

Taking this class online & Mr. Larson has been very helpful & provides lots of notes & instruction.Online classes are hard anyway & he makes it a lot easier with his willingness to help & never goes long w/o answering questions via email.He gives you honest feedback & takes the time to help you if you don't understand something.Very good teacher!

Mr.Larson is a teacher that grade yours papers very harshly. I took his online class and wrote about 15 papers 5 regular, 10 ethics papers. Overall helpful guy, i sent him a paper or two and he sent it back with great notes on how to make it better. Use the LIC writing center and get tons of extra credit.

I have always been a straight A student so I was SO shocked to have made a D in his class!!! I always completed the homework and essays. I always went to the ILC and emailed Mr. Larson when I had questions, i even asked questions in class and stayed after class to go over hw problems i did wrong. I read all of the assigned chapters and studied. :(

Mr. Larson is one of the smartest people that I have ever met. He has a genuine desire to help people learn, and he is great to have an intelligent conversation with outside of class. He's not the easiest instructor, but you will learn a lot from him.

I can't say enough great things about this guy. He truly changed my life for the better. Why? Because he actually EXPECTS something from his students. He's not one to give false praise, so when it's earned, it IS an accomplishment. I began to believe in myself,that I could surmount any obstacle & accomplish ANYTHING. Great teacher. I am not a native speaker, but I got an A by following his instructions. Turning HW on time and go to his office to review ur paper then u will get 100 on it coz he corrected it to u, just fix the mistakes.He gaves bonus points just for going to the learning center. Don't get scared from MLA Quizes, just study what he says in class.

I wouldn't recommend anybody taking him for English because he is super strict with grammer, but his critical thinking class is easy. Basically you just write 10 papers. If you meet the Min. requirement, don't have so much grammer mistakes, than you have an A.

Steve? Is that you? To be sure not! Steve Larson is a used-to-be-hippie turned middle-aged, middle of the road, teaching-at-Wake-Tech-but-used-to-have-potential **** of the worst sort type of teacher. This guy just sounds like a total tyrant! Don't be gettin' above yer raising there Steve!
