He explains every problem in class and tells you exactly what will be on the exam. The class is only graded on 7 exams but as long as you pay attention in class, they should all be easy. The only things I dont like is he doesnt use Eagle and he didnt respond to any of my emails.

Professor Lay is great! Overall I believe he did a good job at teaching the material. Be sure to read the book. If you pay attention in class and study for the test you should be fine.

I was honestly scared he was gonna call on me. If you get a question wrong, he's not very nice about it. Other than that, the class is not too hard. He explains all the problems well and there are no surprises on the tests.

This guy knows his stuff and is serious about the subject matter. His teaching style was not of my taste. The first day of class he starts asking you questions like you've already read the first chapter and already know the content. Understanding him was difficult. He would jump from topic to topic without obvious transition.

Prof. Lay is a really good teacher overall, but his only grades are tests which means you can't mess around with studying. He does drop the lowest test score and will put your real score and your score in the class with the dropped test so you know where you stand. Advice: STUDY Tests are 2-3 work problems like from class and 50 multiple choice.

Robert Lay is experienced and it shows. I didn't like that your grade is 100% based on tests, the tests are very hard to prepare for if you are new at this subject (SO much memorizing accounting forms), and that he does not use EAGLE or respond to emails. If you have never taken accounting before don't take as your first class, overwhelming

Professor Lay has been doing this a long time and it shows. There is a lot of material to get through during the semester so it moves quickly. There is no homework and your grade is based directly off of all your tests. However, if you show up to class, you will do well, AND he drops the lowest test grade for good attendance.

Professor Lay is so cool. If you go to class and study, you will be fine. The only people that have problems are the ones that don't go to class . He tells you exactly what is going to be on the test in lecture! Final was only one question and was also pretty easy.

EVERYTHING he lectures on, is on the test. Miss one class or have holes in your notes and you will have problems. Otherwise, Lay explains everything, all you have to do is study. Everything.

I had no prior knowledge to accounting, that being said, I LOVE accounting and most of it has to do with Prof Lay. He is old school and it is either his way or the highway. He also has a good sense of humor. Tests were typically 50 mult choice and with a few WORK problems but the class is easy to pass if you pay attention. Rarely any homework!

If you are going to take this class be sure you are a fast writer because he goes through the material very quickly. Also be sure to study several days in advance for the test because that is the only thing that determines your grade. Very monotone as well so make sure you take it at a time you will be able to stay awake easily during.

Professor Lay knows what he is talking about. No homework so you rely on your exams for your grade. If you attend class the exams aren't very hard (hands on part). Reading the book helps on the scan tron portion of the exam.

3-week summer course: he is very intellectual in his field (as he IS a real-life accountant) and explained everything greatly. Loved the way he taught: many examples and went through the chapter together (skimmed). It may be different than a full semester, though. I'd recommend him to anyone who is looking for a serious, superb professor!

Took this class over the summer (3 week course). One of the best professors I have had at RVC. If you study exactly what he tells you to, there is no way you should get less than an A in this class. Top notch professor!

I LOVED taking his accounting class! Highly recommend! He was extremely approachable, and he never kicked me out of class on a test when the class time was over (I take longer.)I really appreciated him a lot, and enjoyed his style of teaching. There is nothing like having an Old School educator. More should be like him.

He moves very quickly through the material. If you can't write fast enough or if you have a problem, you'll fall behind and there is little chance of catching up. Forget about taking notes on what you're covering. He doesn't follow the forms in the book, so if you don't get how he's doing it, you won't find the answer in the book. Very frustrating

This is my take. If you can add & subtract, you're good. Prof Lay a CPA, has his own accounting business and uses real world ideas in class, no boing lecture here. He will help you if you ask. You do the problems his way which are easier than the book way. The problems come out of end of chapter. Multiple choice and acounting problems on each test.
