Prof. Lovelace is my favourite at Queen's. I wish there are more courses taught by him through distance study. I took both DEVS 220 and 221, and his lectures inspired me think and reflect on my own interactions with Indigenous peoples in Canada. I learn more than just the course material. His lessons, in my opinion, are like lectures for life.

This man is not only an incredible lecturer, but also an amazing person. He is very flexible when it comes to situations and deadlines, his assignments can be a bit challenging for a second year course, but is generous in marking. I would highly recommend -- I will be taking a class with him again this year!

Bob is an outstanding professor. He always urges you to think outside the box and encourages thoughtful discussion in class. I have learned a great amount from Bob - you just have to be open and let yourself learn in his classes. Think big, speak your mind, and you'll do well. I have taken DEVS 220, 221, and ENSC 482 (his fourth year seminar).

Comment:
Robert Lovelace is one professor that will actually make you think outside the box and expects you to be critical and think by yourself (unlike many professors that claim they do). Assignments might be confusing at first because very different than other classes but he will be very helpful if you go talk to him and will reward good efforts.

Bob's a great guy, and very willing to sit with you before or after class and talk through ideas for a paper or project. His lectures are very long (3h) and slightly confusing at times, as most students would sort of zone out. However, his projects and assigned essays were so thought provoking and I found myself getting really into them.

Seems like he cares about his students BUT he never answered my emails which is a must when its an online class, even when he specifically asked me to review things with him. Lots of writing. His essay topics are extremely vague, however he has a clear view of what he wants you to write and will grade badly if you don't write what he is looking for

Lovelace is one of the nicest professors you'll ever have. He is extremely understanding and very flexible with deadlines. He truly cares about his students and is always willing to give you help. He is a little bit soft spoken, but he is very knowledgeable and has a lot of cool experiences to share.

I definitely recommend Lovelace. He is friendly, well-meaning and extremely understanding. He really wants students to produce their best work - even if it means handing it in late. Although his lectures are a little slow at times and his assignments a little vague, Lovelace is really about interpreting Aboriginal Studies the way YOU see it.

Comment:
Lovelace never bothered to answer his emails. He will not give adequate marks to a student if they do not agree with his beliefs and opinions. He claims he is against blaming and assigning guilt to European colonisers for their involvement in the "destruction of aboriginal culture" but both blames and guilts students. Least favourite prof ever.

Wonderful prof. Connects with students, and is very approachable, brilliant , understanding and clear about his assignments. Also gives you the chance to hand in assignments late without penalty & to rewrite it until you are happy with the mark. Really cares about what he teaches/ about his students. Also engaged politically - really inspiring guy.

Extremely unclear about what he expects out of assignments. Didn't respond to my [3] emails to try and set up an appointment to discuss expectations/ steps for improvement. had office hours right before the final essay was due and then was 1 hour late, leaving at least 6 students sitting in the hall patiently awaiting his help.
