not as easy as most people described. Tests are very straight forward but his grading is not easy. If you can figure out what he wants on exams then you will do fine. He is extremely helpful during his office hours so talk with the man if you need any help. Lastly you will fell a sleep in the class if you aren't interested in the subject.

As someone who simply took the class as a change of pace from my Econ major, I have to say that professor Mode piqued my interest in art like no one else has. I will admit that his grading can be a bit tricky: not that his tests are hard per se, but sometimes its a bit difficult to know what exactly hes looking for. Highly enthusiastic.

very nice and sweet old man. the subject was interesting but his lectures were rather boring. class is more of a straight history class rather than a focused art history class. easy grade - i missed an entire month of class and still got a good grade.

Mode is such a nice guy, and he will be more than helpful if you drop by for office hours. It definitely helps your grade to do that. The tests are very straight forward, and for this class there was no paper at all. The only problem with him is that he has a huge problem with going on tangents, so he never gets through all the material in time.

The material is very interesting and he obviously knows what he's talking about, but he is awful at communicating it to the class. If you already like art, take it, but if not, he's never going to make you like it.

He is a pretty terrible teacher. His lectures consist of incoherent rambling. He doesn't really focus on any one thing, but just gives a broad overview and tells absurd little stories. I dread going to the 75 minute class.

NOT a good class to have for 3 hours all at once- i seriously had to do crossword puzzles to stay awake. He rambles on and on about random topics- usually more about his friends in the field than about actual art and does not make any real points. Also assigned more papers than a writing class.

Very goofy man. Knows alot about what he's teaching. A little scatterbrained and often late. This was, however, on of my favorite classes and it required very little work Grading scale sucks, however. Uses checks with plusses and minuses, hard to gauge

Very scattered. Lectures were disorganized and unclear. Never knew what he wanted you to write on the exam. BORING! Take another Renaissance class if you can!! No papers, so that was good!

His lectures seem to ramble on without any main defining points. The tests are all essays, four questions, and there is always one that he seems to pull out of nowhere. He is by far the worst teacher I've had in the art history department.

A complete pushover. He is so passive that I found it annoying. I did not learn much of anything in this class. I could have taken something more enjoyable or productive for 3 hours a week.
