Professor Nichols was pretty good at explaining concepts in lecture, but you actually have to do work to pass/do well. Stay caught up on the (sometimes very dense) readings and you will hopefully struggle less than I did. There are two essays and two quizzes (basically in class essays) and no final.

Absolutely fantastic professor. A lot of reading for the class a few 5 page papers but he really guides you through it. He is so understanding but one thing he cares about is you coming to class. If I was a history major I would talk all of the classes he offered. 10/10 best professor Ive had at Stockton.

Prof. Nichols is/was fantastic! He truly is. I wish all of my profs were like he was (I'm a grad student now and no longer at Stockton.) My time in his classes were informative and made entertaining by his dry and witty sense of humor. Very patient and will bend over backwards to help. Highly recommend for undergrad history students at Stockton!

Dr. Nichols is an amazing professor. In his Vietnam class I learned not only about the war but global history as well. He is very educated. Incredible lectures, too. The paper assignments are simple if you read and do your research. I'd highly recommend him for any student, any class. But don't be that guy that spends all class time on their phone.

Nichols is a very laid back and friendly professor. While class was often boring as all hell, the way Nichols goes about lecturing kept me somewhat entertained. He's funny in this "awkward dad" sort of way. Course wise, the few papers we had were graded very easily and he always was around to give good feedback. All around he's a very nice guy.

Super nice guy, really understanding and a very easy grader. Only 4 papers, 5 pages double spaced on the books he assigns and a short 5 minute presentation on a chapter you get to choose and that's it. To do bad in this class you have to try to do bad. A little monotone but overall good class .

Awesome Professor. Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable in his field. Learned a tremendous amount (read all the books). Papers- not too difficult or long. Inspired critical thinking, presented unbiased factual information. While you might do well even though you are not into it, for those with true interest, the class is very enriching.

Nichols' class was by far the easiest history class I've ever been in. Didn't read any of the books, stayed on my laptop for his entire class and texted the whole time, still pulled an A+. If you're looking for an easy GAH, this is definitely the class for you.

It was nearly impossible to fail this class. He gives you so much time to write a few short papers, it's a take home final with a couple short answer questions, and he handed out summaries of the books. That being said, his lectures were really dry and the whole class was super boring.

Comment:
Took Professor Nichols for Understanding Iraq. . His lectures were absolutely pointless, most of the time he wasn't really talking about anything, just rambling on and on and on. He was the most boring professor I've ever had, but his papers were easy, he handed out summaries of the books, and was a super easy grader.

Nichols is a great guy. Took him for History of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Two ten page papers and that's it! Easy A. While a nice guy, he is extremely boring to listen to. As he never taught this class before, he was unorganized but still very knowledgeable about the material. Made us get books but rarely opened them.

Everyone knows Nichols has a reputation for being an easy grader, but he's still a good professor. He offers good feedback on thesis if he knows you're actually going to make the changes. He didn't slam us with deadlines for thesis. He's a softie, just make sure you hand your work in at some time in the semester and you'll be fine.

Only Nichols can take methods and turn it into a relatively stress free experience! Lectures some class periods and schedules individual meetings for others to guide us on our prospectus. Only a few short assignments and a prospectus.

One of the nicest professors I've ever had. Very laid back and understanding. Lectures are beyond boring, but I recommend going to all of them, even if you don't actually listen to a word he says...He tends to like people who show up. Possible to pass without doing the readings. Easy A, Easy Zzzz's , too.

I was scared to take an ASH class, but Nichols put us at ease. There is a lot of reading, but the books are enjoyable. If you haven't taken Thesis yet, he helps you in this class to learn how to get ready for Thesis Seminar. Really Helpful, fun to learn from and an enjoyable class. He made a potentially scary course easygoing and fun.

This professor is absolutely amazing. He is very conscious of his students, and plans his class to assure if you're in Thesis seminar or in Midterms/Finals, he pulls back on the work. He is super helpful, and is full of first-hand knowledge from his travels. Take him. You won't regret it!
