Watched many fellow students drop PLSC after taking his intro class. Feels its his duty to "test" (his words) whether people really want to be in PLSC-- he tests by using 10+ books and assigning 500+ pages of reading per week (intro level freshman class mind you). The tests are majority based on specific pages of that reading... Brutal and stupid.

I had him in Reno for Intro. World Politics, he didn't teach the course like any normal Intro course, this was extremely difficult. Waaaay too much reading. The class required a lot of your time, and for most people with jobs, there is not enough time available. Don't take his class if you have no interest in the subject.

he comes off as not that helpful and nice in larger classes, but in small settings, he is completely different. if you go to him for help, he will give you great advice about your papers/tests. He is always willing to help students and may even give you books to use for your papers. He was also my advisor and extremely helpfulw ith that as well.

Do not I repeat, do not take this class. He is a terrible Professor who assigns a 400 level course load for a 100 level class. Approximately 10 books to purchase for this awful course. His lectures are even more boring then the sections where we try to interpret what this arrogant prick actually wants from us. Stay away!!!!!

He is a great professor despite all the bad ratings about him. He's always willing to help, so just stop by his office and he may even give you a great advice about future career. He definitely rewards those who put in the time to do some work. Take a seminar w/him and you'll learn much more in the smaller setting than big lecture hall. Great guy!

his class was interesting and i stayed awake despite it being a huge class in the worst room on campus-science 1 lecture hall. he's fair and so nice. he's interesting, approachable and open to all opinions. he allows for class discussion even in a big lecture but doesnt let it get too out of hand. he's probably the nicest guy in the department.

The class wasn't interesting unless you came to lecture and only read the good books. He was an excellent professor; he was always available to help, includinge mail & gave a nice curve at the end. Most of this semester's class is bashing him because they posted before the grade was posted on Busi. I got an A barely reading but studying the notes.

This guy is the biggest a*hole ever. He is condescending. The class is sooooo boring and dry. He thinks he is doing a service to the world by lecturing. He treats students like 1st graders. He assigned 15 books for the intro class and i did more work for this class than any other!!! Definitely stay away from this guy!!!

I have to say that this is the worst class I have ever taken. He uses unnecessary hard words and 95% of my notes make no sense when it comes to studying. His tests are rediculously hard, and its not worth taking this class. I'm serious, to whoever wants to: listen to me.

Great news! The political theory requirement for PLSC majors was waived! Don't take this guy's class, because he does not know what he is doing. He gives his class too much importance. Its a stupid intro class! Get over yourself!

He doesn't tolerate slackers and he's very fair, the amount of reading is crazy and the number of books were too, it was also very dry and I never felt as though everything from the reading ever tied together really. He's a nice guy and a good teacher, never has a prob with repeating himself or slowing down. It's a tough class, but good teacher

While this class is a tad disorganized (and the reading..), I would take a class with this professor again in a heartbeat. He's funny, and makes the otherwize boring materal intresting. Yes, this class requires some work, but he's very fair. If you're falling asleep in lecture, that's your problem. He keeps the class involved as much as possible.

The workload is intense for this class. He was really nice and a cool professor. For the first two months I didn't know what it was we were learning, i.e. I didn't know what this class was about. His exams are hard, but that's why you should study study study. The subject of this class did stink, but I miggght take another class with him.

my TA said,"no1 takes PLSC b/c they like the material, they take it b/c of the PLSC major then never take a theory course again." He is a smart man & a gr8 teacher, but the material is dry, boring, & puts u 2 sleep-it doesn't help that it is a tues/thurs hr & a half lecture. Despite 115 sucking, I would take another class he teaches.

Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. The work load was intense but nothing more then you would expect from any graduate school program. I learned a lot about the topic and I feel that my over all experience was excellent. If you are lazy this class is NOT for YOU!
