Hes a really nice professor who in a way reminded me of dr. pym from antman. One midterm, one paper and one final, but theyre not too bad. Im gonna be real here, I didnt do any of the readings. As long as you know the general background of them, the class should be fine. Overall, pretty nice class.

You really need to go to lecture and pay attention to everything. There's so much reading which is necessary in order to participate in discussion. There's only one paper and midterm and final. They aren't multiple choice, only writing terms and essays so be prepared! It's a lot, and good luck.

This guy was my favorite professor at UCR. All he does is stand up at the podium and talk about history for the whole class. I'm literally just typing everything he says word-for-word during lecture. Other than that, it's super easy and entertaining if you like history.

Professor speaks fast, a lot of information. Outlines don't help so take notes. TA grades everything. Beware of Alan, grading method unclear; participation matters in discussion or low points. Grades very tough. Makes you work for it. Literally. 1 midterm/final and 1 5-7pg paper.

Good professor and class. The TA and professor are very helpful, make sure to go to them if you want a good grade and understand the material better. Don't slack on your readings because it does pile up. Stay on top of your work and readings and you will get a good grade.

Professor Patch is a great professor. He posts lecture outlines before each class and they're helpful in letting you know what you need to study for his exams. Attendance and participation is only mandatory in discussion sections. A lot of the test material is based off of his reading so make sure you don't fall behind on those.

Professor Patch is great. He does't have slides, so you have to attend lecture in order to take notes. There is 1 midterm with definitions and 1 essay question. The final has two essay questions. Make sure you read the books and the articles. Everything comes on the Final!!

Honestly he wasn't that bad. I got A's on both tests, eh on the essay, and full credit for discussion. For the readings just get the jist of what they are talking about. Going to lecture really helps because his online notes are kinda vague. This is definitely a class where you need to put effort into to get a A though.

His exams consist mostly of readings, his lecture outlines don't really help, and his class is very boring. You have to do all of the readings in order to do well. I didn't go to class and pulled off a B in the course just by using others' books.

He's not a total comedian, but he has his funny moments. I enjoy his lectures very much. Its actually one of the history classes that didn't bore me to death. The homework is all reading (and it can be a lot). You have to read every required reading if you want to pass with a good grade. The tests are surprise topic essays about the readings.

Professor Patch is a great teacher. He is a tough grader though. He assigns a ton of reading but, the material is interesting. It's best to go to all his lectures because he elaborates on reading assignments. If u are critical of U.S. imperialism in your assignments, be sure to provide sufficient evidence and be extra persuasive.

Topics: colonialism & imperialism. ONE midterm, ONE paper on the readings given 2 prompts (5-6 pages), cumulative final with emphasis on the post-midterm material. Don't really need memorize much, but for the exams you have to identify some terms (1-2 sentences each). Participation(attendance) in discussion is a part of overall grade.

If you just want to pass: lectures are pointless. The tests are most based on the books. The main and most expensive book especially. You won't get better than a C without it, even if you do all the other reading and make killer essays on them. If you want to enjoy: All the above + go to lecture. He's pretty entertaining. Useless for the tests.

This was my favorite class last quarter. Although it was it was a lot of reading, the lectures were very interesting. The professor was really funny and his lectures were like stories. The overview he gives of the 1500s gives you a greater understanding of things that are going on today. You donĂ¢€™t need to memorize NAMES or DATES!

Professor Patch really knows his stuff about Latin America. Lets you pick paper or midterm. Midterm --> no study guide, but he says your lecture notes and the lecture outlines are the study guide. This makes it very hard to study for because he doesn't tell us what terms will be on the test. This goes for both the midterm and final.

He is a really nice professor and is very enthusiastic about the subjects he teaches. The class is pretty boring sometimes, but he tries his best to make it a little more entertaining by adding comments here and there. He has one midterm (ID & one essay), one paper using a required book, and the final (two essays using required readings & IDs).

His lectures were more like stories. He made it very interesting. You have to come to lecture to get the notes because he only posts up the outlines on iLearn, but without the details. There is an insane amount of reading. You don't need to read all of it, but it is helpful if you do. You have to write an essay on the readings and have a final.
