Dr. Phillips grades very hard and expects a little too much of his students. He will give an assignment and say it is easy in class and then everyone in the class will have issues doing the assignment. If you have a problem with the University's network he is generally not helpful. If you ask a question in office hours, he will get angry.

Dr. Phillips is an amazing teacher. If you do not do well in his class it is entirely YOUR fault. He is incredibly helpful during his office hours. I had absolutely no prior experience with coding before this class and passed with an 96 average. Make sure you do well because whatever language they teach in 109 will help you in 120 big time!

Had Dr. Phillips for DB1 & DB2. Lot of work but very doable if you manage your time well. Learned a ton of material from him. Course was challenging but rightfully should be. Would love to take him again.

Comment:

You must go to class and take notes on what he is saying. Sometimes it seems like he's just rambling but its actually stuff you need to know. I could answer so many questions on test just from remembering stuff he said in class. Must keep up with work or you will get lost. Overall I learned a lot in the class about SQL and other database concepts.

Pretty interesting class and Dr. Phillips is a nice guy. He's very laid back, but also has a problem multi-tasking and finishing his sentences. The class itself is mostly common sense but not exactly an easy A. He helped me a lot during the semester and always seemed willing to help. I recommend him and the class.

Very disappointing.. plays favoritism, doesn't seem to enjoy teaches, and will only help those few when they need it. If you aren't one of the select few he basically tells you to get lost when you ask him questions.

I'm greatly disappointed in the professor. Every professor I've had so far in the ITEC department has been nice and willing to help when a student doesn't understand something. You ask this guy something and he gets all pissed off. Also after an assignment is due he drops a.. "By the way I hope you made sure to include this..."
