I regret taking this course. I feel like the amount of effort you put in does not reflect your grade. It was discouraging. Book was not that great. His lectures are great though and he did offer a grade incentive for the last exam. Non-cumulative final. I took 19 units this semester and got nothing lower than a B in my other courses.

Dr. Ramirez is an excellent, albeit old fashion professor. You are graded on 4 exams (including non-cumulative final). Lecture is based on ppts you must print and bring to class. He WILL call you on you by NAME. Be prepared to be embarrassed, but honestly it keeps you on your toes. Review previous lectures before class!!

I don't like him. College is supposed to be tough yeah, and of course science classes are tough. But come ON! Making students feel like idiots in class is degrading and NOT helpful. If you don't know your stuff well, expect to be ridiculed and embarrased in front of everyone. He takes pride in doing this as well.

Dr Ramirez is hard! Not to understand though, the bottom line, he doesn't baby-feed you. I had him for Microbial Physiology. It was the hardest lab that i ever took . Basically you designed your own experiments and you better know how the whole experiment works! Anyhow, he has made me into the fine scientist i am today! He's a good mentor!

Dr. Ramirez=really hard! Took him for lecture and he doesnt have a textbook, just slides you have to fill in the blank and random readings he posts on ilearn. Office hours are impossible to get to, especially if you work so he's not much of a help if you have questions. Slides are very vague. Exams are tricky as hell. AVOID IF POSSIBLE!

Dr. Ramirez is a really good teacher. He's really intimidating and he keeps you on your toes throughout the whole semester. He's pretty tough but is helpful during office hours. His lab should be more than 2 units because it's much harder than the lecture! He may be tough, but you will definitely learn a lot from him.

Dr. Ramirez is a wonderful lecturer. Very clear and organized. His exams are hard, but the people who did very well in the course read each chapter 3-4 times. As for the rest of us, just use the curve and get through it. His lab is very difficult and should be worth way more than 2 units.

Good teacher. quizzes are not quizzes but more like exams!Hard but fair. sometimes not prepared but blame the media kitchen.Practicals are timed and can be intimidating but he has lots of criteria to cover so you cannot totally mess up. Very helpful when answering questions about science in general.
