Shanab is a decent professor. His lectures could be better and more structured. 2 groups exams/1 solo final. Groups exams are easy but final is hard. There is extra credit for doing homework and participating BUT its a his discretion so dont count on it too much. Be sure to participate if you want that extra credit! Itll save your grade.

Really great Professor. There are weekly homework assignments, but he does not grade on accuracy! Do the homework and you will receive extra credit that can bump your grade up a full letter. He also goes over all the homework and explains to you the correct answer. Very knowledgeable and passionate about what he is teaching. Love his class.

DO THE HOMEWORK! It is counted for extra credit. Two exams before the final exam. The two exams are really easy, they are NOTHING like the final exam. The final exam is solo and is really hard, study! You NEED the textbooks to do the homework directly on it so he will count it towards extra credit, doesn't accept it if it is on a separate paper

Dr. Shanab is brilliant professor who makes philosophy far less difficult than imagined. The course has a smooth tempo and tone, entertaining, challenging, and he understands the occasional difficulties students have grasping some concepts. But most of all, what a student should know; is that, Dr. Shanab is 100% FAIR! Great Input Great Outcome.

Dr. Shanab is a great professor who made class both informative and entertaining. You will have to learn the material he is trying to teach, but he makes it easy as long as you show up to class, pay attention, and/or very thoroughly read the book on your own. There is only one weekly assignment each week and three tests in the semester.

Dr. Shanab is a truly fantastic professor. Lectures are fun, engaging, and everyone is encouraged to contribute during discussions. Complete the weekly homework and attend class regularly to ace the exams (which consist of two midterms and a final). If you genuinely want to learn about rhetoric and philosophy, take Dr. Shanab ASAP!

Dr. Shanab is an OUTSTANDING professor. He is very genuine and intelligent. He teaches everything so that even a circus monkey could learn it if they payed attention. Pick a good group to join that does their homework and you will be all set for the exams. Do the homework for the extra credit points (no brainer). If you can't hear him, tell him. :)

Shanab is by far the best teacher UNLV has to offer. If you are looking for a "Easy Pass" Shanab is your guy, as long as you show up most days and participate in group activities you will pass. He is very understanding and CARING of his students. it was a privilege to hear all the knowledge and teachings he had to offer.

Professor Shanab has been my favorite teacher at UNLV so far. He is very accessible and is great with the students, most of the work done is in class. Test's are grouped so you have multiple viewpoints. Super friendly and funny but is really serious about his teaching. As long as your respectful and you have the books you will pass this class.

Philosophy is a convoluted subject that Professor Shanab breaks down logically. Highly recommended, obviously has many years of experience. Tests are similar to homework.

If youre not understanding the material, dont even bother asking for help. He would rather complain about how easy it is and how many times hes already explained the material (which is not accurate), than to help you better understand. He speaks extremely quiet, even if you ask him to project.

Very nice professor. Outlines the percentage of each assignment in the syllabus. Homework is graded through participation, by participating you get extra credit. For the two first tests you can work in a group and have to only analyze two different arguments. Gives many opportunities in which students can improve their grade.

The class started out very vague, but over time, the material gets much more easier and interesting. There are 3 tests, two of them are purely written, but you get an opportunity to take them with a partner The Final is multiple choice, but it is written by the philosophy department, and it is significantly more difficult than the 1st two tests

Entire grade consists of (2) group exams and (1) final exam. Extra credit is offered and could help the final grade improve by one letter grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I suggest attending if you want to earn an A. Final exam is difficult, but do the extra credit and you should earn a decent grade. Overall, great professor and I recommend.

Professor Shanab is great, thoughtful lecturer. He cares about his students' performance and wants them to succeed. You get exactly what you put into this class; you read assigned chapters and practise the assigned homework, you'll do very well on the first two exams. the final is a department final and is relatively harder, so be prepared.

Professor Shanab has lived a life of overcoming adversity. He would stand tall with you in any situation where you needed Help. In fact, he may use a very considerable subject matter during the course to help you identify. He somehow kept my old van running I would gladly take any other course he was teaching in the future. Thx Shanab!

I took Professor Shanab for a required Phil 102 course on Logic about 3 years ago. The information that he taught to me then is a huge part of everything I do to this day. His course was a masterful introduction to rhetoric. Who would not want to master this? His instruction was priceless. His accent is thick, but if you aren't racist he is amazing
