It surprises me how low Dr. Schlieper's rating is here. This is one of the most interesting courses I've taken at riddle. He allows students to give presentations and then discuss them with complete freedom of speech (students say some pretty deep stuff). You will learn a lot about other perspectives on modern ethical issues. Anyone can get an A.

AVOID!!Class is based on reading,taking CONFUSING online quizzes and students teaching the class.There is no structure and he contradicts himself DAILY. DO NOT take if you don't want to participate EVERY class and basically tell your classmates that their ethics are wrong.Class makes you very self conscience! He doesn't care about student's grades!

Avoid. His class has no structure, he gives very vague instructions and then grades on very strict criteria. Contradicts himself on a daily basis. Class discussions can be interesting but don't count for grades. Nice guy but doesn't know how to lead a class. Assigns papers arbitrarily and sometimes last minute with arbitrary, unclear directions.

Schlieper's grading system is a bit confusing at first but in the end youll understand it. He grades very harsh (which he admits) - taking alot of points off for smaller things. I started off with a C/D in the course and now i am at an A. At the end the assignments (which are weighed more) are curved from the highest score so that helps ALOTT!

Gotta say, although his class is very confusing at some parts he sets it up so anyone can get an A. He has 2 systems get and A on everything or do a butt load of extra credit. Really tries to engage everyone in the class without a doubt I would take this professor again. His instructions are vague however he wants the students to lead the class.

I took Technical writing with this prof in the early nineties. The admissions office assured me then that they had so many complaints that his contract wouldn't be renewed. He was a factor in my deciding to finish my BS degree elsewhere!

Very vague instructions, and he will still be very harsh if it's not what he had imagined. He never seems to have any structure to his class, I'm pretty sure he has no idea what he's doing. Very unhelpful and arrogant. Avoid.

People frequently misunderstand his grading system. hi grades how he feels you preformed on a professional level. often times this is a C or D level. then he implements a curve so that 90% of the class ends up with an A or B. Overall I thought he was a great prof and enjoyed his class. do the work, get an A

Very inconsistant grading criteria.Somewhat disorganized in teaching. Does NOT get his point across well, therefore creates great confusion in the students.Worked my butt of, and did some guess work in order to get an A in the class. If you get him, work hard,if you can help it, dont get him.

I learned alot in this class, especially how to manipulate microsoft word for resumes and reports. I aced the class, but that was only because i followed his instructions. By the way, his instructions for assignments are so vague, then he reprimands you for doing it wrong.

Strongly supports his socialist and atheist agenda in class. Wants you to be impressionable, not "open minded". He uses "bad facts" as his wild card to hurt your grade if you don't agree with him, but lets you use any facts you want if you agree with him. Very disorganized and convoluted way of doing EVERYTHING, even grades. Avoid like the plague!

I would bet that this course is the most exciting and entertaining course anyone could take here @ Riddle purely because of the instructor & his teaching methods. He taught us everything in such an awesome manner that I'm pretty sure that everyone felt happy. HU 330 is an amazing subject but it is out of the world if you take it with Dr. Schlieper!

I found that he doesn't particularly care too much for his students. He couldn't recall my name nor most of the rest of the class's names for the entire semester. I did learn a good amount in this class, but not through his quizzes, which have a lot of irrelevant material in them. He doesn't give enough time to complete group-work projects.

A good teacher, he DOES NOT try to make you forget whatever you believed before, he simply encourages open-mindedness. I took him, and in my opinion, the people that complained about him trying to change their beliefs were getting annoyed because he was making really good points, and they couldn't come back with anything.
