This guy works at Elon now and he is terrible! I have him for SCI121 and it's like he doesn't want to give an A. I'm taking this class just for the credits and should be getting an A but his homework doesn't make any sense and he assigns one every week! If you miss one question it's automatically a B...aka impossible to get an A in this class!

He's a really fun quirky guy, but class time is not really devoted to whats going to be on tests or final. He gets extremely off topic, but they are always interesting conversations. Exams were a little hard. Pop quizzes were extremely easy, as he gives the answers.

Really nice guy, but rather disorganized in his lectures. If you read the assigned material you'll be absolutely fine. But don't wait until last minute because its a lot of reading. Tests are not super difficult but sometimes a little challenging. Lab days seem long but they help your grade a lot and the experiments can be pretty fun.

Nice chill professor. Grading breakdown: 3 tests (takes best 2), online quizzes (you get 3 attempts for best score each), and a few simple in class quizzes. Very energetic and knowledgeable professor who loves the subject. Would recommend.

Dr. Shetlar tries to keep the class interested and jokes a lot. He goes off on tangents but it's usually somewhat relevant, funny, or at least interesting.Do the quizzes before the exams and understand how the processes work to do best on the exams. Some extra points available on exams. Textbook helps but probably not necessary.Would take him again

Dr. Shetlar is quite honestly the most chill professor I have had. Although attendance is strongly encouraged (sometimes through use of in-class quizzes), if you show a genuine interest in the material and put in as much effort into the course as a student as he does as a PROFESSOR, he's been known to be lenient in his absence policy. :)

Very nice guy who is genuinely interested in his students. Print out the powerpoints before class and fill them out as he goes (they're only comprised of questions). READ THE TEXT. He is very funny but goes off on tangents. His tests are hard because they are concept-based, but if you read the text and study the powerpoints, you'll be fine.

Took him in Honors section, Dr. Shetlar really cares about his students and about your understanding of the material. Grades mostly comprised of tests, final, 1 lab report, and quizes on Webcourses. when you first meet him, he may come off as kind of weird, but he's really cool.

The class is very hard, his test are very hard you need to study constantly for an A, like 20 hours a test. Lab is a great help and worthwhile, lectures are pointless, the book is your savior for tests, ask about his bike.

GREAT professor! Dr. Shetlar makes biology somewhat interesting, and he genuinely cares about his students and the subject! He'll skim over some things if he feels they're not critical for the course, but will go into detail if you ask for help. He's VERY helpful if you shoot him an e-mail or stay after class. Attendance is a MUST!

You won't get an A unless you read the book. Practice multiple choice as it is vital for his 3 non-cum. exams and a cum. final. Extra credit is given although you shouldn't depend on it. Focus more on the lab; it will definitely help your grade.

Dr. Shetlar is an amazing professor! He keeps you entertained and makes Biology very interesting. He doesnt strictly follow material outlines, but does go in depth on things he feels are important. Tests are not hard if you study, and grades are helped by online quizzes and a formal lab report. I highly recommend! Im taking Molec Cell Bio with him!

Dr. Shetlar is a super nice guy! His lectures are a little difficult to get notes from sometimes, he uses a lot of pictures, but he is MORE than happy to explain anything to you if you just ask. His tests are straightforward and he gives really great reviews for them. The labs were pretty fun and he's really into his job!
