I was really looking forward to this class, but Bob ruined it for me. He rushed work without a clear explanation for assignments and only talked and displayed his own artwork. He is not supportive of your art and isn't afraid to tell you. He is the reason I transferred schools.

visual design was great, had great speakers come in to talk to us, lacked teaching real world experience, not everyone will receive a job making "coffee table" books - needs to teach more troubleshooting and real world techniques

I really looked forward to taking this class. Some of the assignments were a little challenging, but in the end I was glad I put in the time. The class itself was helpful and I learned a lot, even though I didn't always agree with Sirko's POV. He was hard on me throughout the semester, but I ended up with a good grade.

Despite what everyone else is saying, I really liked him. I thought that his projects were relevant especially if you are a design student (which I am). He helped me a lot when I had trouble understanding what to do. Very knowledgeable of all Adobe Suites. Great professor!

When it comes to graphic design, professor Sirko is unrivaled in his acuity of the Arts. Some may think such a zealous individual like Sirko would be ?an ego-maniacal jerk,? but that is false. Whoever thought of that must be baffled by a task such as tying one?s own shoes. Professor Sirko is phenomenal when it comes to relating with his students.

He wastes time with irrelevant projects. So, when you only have a week and a half left of school he might assign a project that is to be done on a completely new program, and you will be expected to put together a final that you have close to no instruction on what he expects. It's unfortunate he is the only computer graphics prof. at Valpo :(

really, really bad. i luckily was able to find a design job after graduating and learned everything about design from my co-workers. it was 2000 and he never brought up web design once. i don't even remember using illustrator in the class. so, yeah, just get an internship and you'll learn a lot more....and you won't have a school loan.

Bob thinks he's a lot better at his job than he is. His logos are ok, but most of his other stuff is just bad. Also has trouble with setting deadlines, teaching actual design technique, and trying to be friendly with students. Cubs fan, too. Unforgivable.

After graduating with a design major from Valpo, I now know that Bob did very little in educating future designers to work in the real world. Topics like color, scale, and pre-print procedures are skimmed over to cover more stylistic conditions of design.
