I've taken many classes with Bob and though he can be quite combative, he will respect if you make cogent and compelling arguments. He's very intelligent, anti-establishment oriented, funny, and will shake your world up. He is usually very engaging. He's very fair about grades and assignments. Get him before he leaves in spring 2009!

he's great about getting you to think about other opinions and challenging your thoughts. readings and movies have been extremely effective in teachings and have been interesting. great guy, but it takes a little while to get past his very liberal attitude. respects others opinions and does his best to make sure everybody gets heard. he's the man!!

He's a smart and amusing man, though very abrupt and is always willing to give his honest, yet often harsh, opinion. Not everything about his teaching style is ideal, but he takes you out of your comfort zone and makes you look back on yourself. He's a great teacher to begin a college career with.

Students need to stop spending their time offended at a topic, or a statement, or an issue, and instead realize how much they are getting out of a discussion about that topic, statement, or issue. Bob was an incredible factor in helping me grow as a student and a person.
