Overall not a good class; if it isn't mandatory for you, stay away. His lecture style is incredibly dull and his homework is bone dry busywork. His tests are intentionally wordy and confusing. He does not know how to use Canvas, so your grade on there will be wrong and he will blame you for not knowing this.

NOTE: I had GA/TA Kendall Hauck as my teacher. This rating is for her. Kendall is a great teacher for this class. If you can, take her or any of the other GA/TAs - they make the class easier. Attendance and participation is important - cards are taken up each class time. There are five tests and one final. There are many extra credit opportunities.

I have him for a Masters Edpsy class & I absolutely love it! It's Socratic siminar based and participation is worth about 40% of your grade. The tests are very challenging, but the participation points make up for that. There's no reason to do badly if you get all your participation points. Best of all, NO PAPERS! He a nice guy and loves tennis.

The material is super dry. There is not much room for the GA's to teach creatively. I wouldn't take this class if you don't have to.

Class can be dry at times, but Dr. Williams is an overall very kind and helpful person, and he holds review sessions to help with exams. The material is boring for the most part, but class discussions are fun. The Instructor Notes questions are the worst aspect of this class, as they consist of a lot of busy work. Overall pretty okay class.

I did not learn one thing in this class that I didn't already know. The notes are extremely biased and if you don't have a good TA you are screwed because they're the ones who teach the class and tell you exactly whats going to be on the test!

It's a shame that this class is required for education majors. Robert Williams doesn't even bother teaching the class. I was lucky enough to have a good TA. His tests are extremely tricky and he doesn't even assign a book. Just notes that he has taken and thinks are correct (mainly his opinion). Be prepared to have lots of homework.

This class was absolutely pointless. I learned nothing, as the class was centered around someone's research and the students were the guinea pigs. My TA tried the best that she could but the way the course was designed didn't allow her to do anything helpful. Unfortunately this class is required for those in education.

You don't have to take my word for it, read all the other dis-satisfied students before me... This class SUCKED! This is a CRITICAL THINKING class, not an Education NOR psychology class. NOTHING about this class is enjoyable, the thought of waking up to go to class nauseated me... HOWEVER, it is REQUIRED if you are seeking an education path.

This is the worst class I have ever taken. You will not learn anything...it is a complete waste of time. The class is biased and is based on the unpublished "book" Dr. Roberts made. Dr. Roberts is incompetent and wildly disrespectful. If there is anyway to avoid this class, do.

What a joke! I wish I had four hands to give this class four thumbs down! He writes his own textbook which is full of typos. Totally worthless, I learned nothing in this this class, however, it is mandatory for future educators. What a monopoly this guy has on crappy education! Just go to every class, grin and bear it.

TERRIBLE... I never even saw Mr. Williams, a TA taught my class who had no clue how to teach at all, ironic for a class for future teachers. The textbook is a huge book of instructor notes and a lot of them are biased. Test questions can often go multiple ways, not that they care about our opinions, even though the class is all student discussion.

Dr. Williams writes the book for his class. His class is absolutely ridiculous and USELESS. His way of thinking is so backward and unrealistic. His exams are nearly impossible and unfair. The entire class is a joke and should be eliminated from UT as a REQUIREMENT for some people. His information isn't important or handy. AWFUL CLASS!

I loved Dr. Williams and his class! He was very nice and I thought the class was relatively easy - it's just busy work. Tests are straight-forward, and all you have to do is the homework and talk a little in class. Not as big of a deal as others seem to think it is. If you are good at memorizing facts, this class will be a breeze.

The class overall consumed way too much time for a 200 level. You were required to say 2 comments a class- if you don't it affects your grade. The content was a lot to handle- although some of it was interesting- other parts were useless.

I loved him!! I thought he was an amazing teacher. He truly cares about his students and whether or not they learn. He will go out of his way to make sure you understand everything. If you do all the work and stay caught up, you will make at least a B if not an A. There is a lot of work, but it is worth it. Get him for Ed. Psych 210!!

Williams is very much a legalist. Be sure you do and think EXACTLY like he says...or you're wrong. Very strict about homework too. (I missed an A by one pt due to homework) Interesting class and sometimes he even had some fun but he is very much a serious person. Tests are VERY wordy--its like taking a standardized test.
