For a 1000-level course, HUMA1825 was extremely reading intensive. Try to get Roger as your TA - he is very smart, approachable and is also a fair grader. Make sure you are able to keep up with the readings otherwise you will have trouble participating in tutorials.

Get read to read lot of books and memorize quotation which is not fair. There is no homework but reading novel each week. Hard marker but lectures are okay.

Took this for my HUMA Gen. Ed requirement... would definitely had picked a different course... I managed to get an A but I don't even know how... I guess because I participated so much in tutorials so my TA really liked me LOL. I'd pass on this course... it's tough and a little confusing... there should be better electives out there.

It is a disaster. He talks about stuff that wont be on the exam a lot and then says "I told you the exam will be hard". If his exams were actually on the things he is talking about in class, then the course would be great but sadly he doesn't and that's the problem. Also, he makes you buy his expensive book.

He is very knowledgeable but rambles about other things unrelated to the test. Taking notes in his lectures is difficult because you won't know what to pick out or focus on. Don't sit in the back of lectures it difficult to hear him because he mumbles a lot.

Great guy. Very interactive if you're into law. I ended up with an A+ in the class. Did the readings, though dozed off during lectures. Most of my reflection was done during the tutorial, which I was fortunate enough to have with the Professor Fisher.

The only reason why I got an A is because I participated like crazy in tutorials so my TA really got to know me and my opinions. Fisher himself, made us buy his expensive book just to read a small portion of it... over all it was not that interesting... but the Greek play readings were.. half the stuff he talked about was not even on the exam..

This class was probably the hardest course I've ever taken. The material was just so hard overall. I regret taking the course, should definitely stay away if you do not want your GPA going low. However, the prof himself was extremely nice and would help you whenever you needed the help.

He's a very helpful prof. It's his class could be boring sometimes. I would not recommend it as a first year course. It requires A LOT of reading, sometimes 2 books a week. Also, prepare to write 1200+ words essays on the tests

He's a bit boring at times but tries his best, and is very nice and helpful. Tries to make your exams and assignments easier (asks which days work best for you, etc). I took the course in 1 semester and ended up with a B+. A lot of readings but they're fun, you can do them on your free time.

This was the hardest class i have ever taken in my life. The prof was really nice and helpful, however, you had to read so many books where half of them didn't even make any sense. It was so hard to keep up with the readings. DO NOT take this course.

Nicest man. I found the class super easy. Just do the readings, which are simple, and make friends to discuss the assignments and you'll be fine. If you speak up in class he'll like you and really help you out.

Hard course! But still for me it was enjoyable. First semester is deffinately better than the second. DOnt take this class if your not serious about keeping up with readings.. sometimes a book a week. The exams are really hard! Identify quotes and write 2 essays on topics he suggests. You don't have enough time to make outstanding essays

If you love reading historical books and okay with reading 2500+ pages of text, then this is the course for you! As a teacher, he is not bad at all. Very intellectual man. However, don't bother with getting a good grade in HUMA1825A at all. Mid term averages were mid 50%. I barely read any text and managed to get a C. You must go to your tutorial.

Honestly, very knowledgeable everything when it comes to the law, but when he's teaching, it's mostly irrelevant, he will only give 5-10 minutes of useful information to use and apply in the readings. I learned more with my teaching assistant, than him.

Although his lectures were a bit dull, he genuinely tried to engage the class and answered any questions thoroughly. Very fair marker, and assignments were easy and relevant to the course material. Not very many readings either. One of the best profs I've had at York! Strongly recommend

One of the nicest, most helpful profs I've had at york. He was genuinely engaged in the class and no matter how stupid some student comments were, he never once condescended or belittled. Very sweet guy, and seems to know what he's talking about.

Really good prof. Test aren't easy that's for sure. Makes the class interesting as are his tutorials. Lecture can get boring! Lots of readings - that's an understatement. If you want to learn something and grow yourself mentally and intellectually take this course. It's a challenge, well worth it though.

He's an amazing prof! Really passionate about what he's teaching, and he's a total sweetheart! Except, his lectures can get really boring and off topic. There's A LOT of reading to do, and if you don't keep up there's no way you're getting anything about a C. 4 in class writing exams plus a 30% final exam. I regret taking it!
