Comment:

Not the best lecturer, but helps in his office hours. Grading is kinda strict and I found many times that I was right and marked down for it. Just talk to him and he fixes it. Pretty simple class to begin with, but ramps up towards the end.

The only problem I have with him is that he announces quizzes pretty last minute... He announced a quiz on Wednesday that was given on Friday. But other than that, he knows how to teach.

Great professor, really knows his stuff. Challenging professor but he makes you actually learn the material. Extremely helpful when you visit his office. Recommended if you actually want a learning experience.

Had he for EE3173. He is a good person I don't why some say he is ruled. I often went to his office and ask questions. It turns to be very helpful. The greatest thing I don't like about his lecture is he just repeats everything in the handout. The labs are wonderful. You can learn a lot from the lab.

Had him for System design and as a Design advisor. The system class was very challenging but he did a decent job teaching the material. As a design advisor he was terrible. Little to no assistance and he set very unreasonable goals. Overall, a good teacher with serious issues regarding a design team.

Comment:

Dr Kieckhafer is the head of the CpE program at MTU. That being said, he takes great responsibility into making you the best engineer he can. His trademark method is to make his courses as demanding as possible. As for asking questions during his office hours, you should to make an honest attempt at figuring out a problem before asking.

Had him for both 3175 and 3970. Both classes were moderately difficult. For 3175, the topics were interesting but the tests were challenging. He does a good job of instructing, I dont care what anyone else thinks. If you go to class and pay attention, at the very least you'll be learning a lot of material. You get what you put in: work hard=do well

(also had him for 3970) This guy is a waste, he wastes paper, your time, and your money. Just play his games, get through the semester and call it a day, If you can avoid having him as a professor do so, if not good luck, and do well on the homework if you hope to pass

He's a very bad teacher. He rambles on randomly, and is not a nice man. Do not go to his office hours, he just questions you and yells at you asking you why you don't understand anything, even after he tells you that you shouldn't understand. Do not take him if you don't have to.

He is super ****. He told me straight out that he believes that females don't do anything when put in a group with males, and told a friend of mine straight out that it was alright that she couldn't do as much as the males.
